Indian Railways is preparing to launch the highly anticipated Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, aiming to transform overnight rail travel across India. Designed for both speed and luxury, the new service will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Howrah to just 15 hours, offering an elevated experience for passengers on one of the busiest railway routes in the country.

The upcoming Vande Bharat Sleeper Train promises to redefine how India experiences long-distance overnight rail journeys. The new train will cover the 1,449 km stretch between Delhi and Howrah in only 15 hours, compared to the usual 17–20 hours taken by existing services. According to Moneycontrol, the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat will operate at speeds up to 160 km/h, making it the fastest option on this route.

Indian Railways plans to roll out these trains as part of its ongoing effort to modernise its fleet and improve passenger convenience. The new service will also strengthen the brand image of Vande Bharat trains, previously known for their semi-high-speed daytime services.

Luxurious Interiors And Passenger-Friendly Features

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train features upgraded interiors with attention to detail. As reported by Moneycontrol, the coaches will include sensor-based lighting, anti-graffiti surfaces, improved insulation, and soundproofing for a quieter experience.

Each berth is designed with cushioned support, and ladders to access the upper and middle berths come with wider steps for added safety. First AC coaches will include hot water shower facilities. Modular bio-vacuum toilets with spill-proof basins and odour control will be standard across all classes.

According to The Times of India, the interior colour scheme features calm tones of cream and wood, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. The coaches will also include USB charging ports, night lights, and advanced display systems to keep passengers informed throughout the journey.

Indian Railways is prioritising safety and inclusivity in the Vande Bharat Sleeper project. The train features enhanced crash buffers and fire-resistant materials that comply with the latest safety standards. According to IndiaTimes, accessibility features such as wheelchair-friendly berths and toilets are also part of the design.

Passenger announcements and information systems will be automated, ensuring a smoother experience for all travellers, especially those with special needs.
