India is an evolving nation on its way to remarkable developments. One aspect of this remarkable development is Kerala’s dream project, the Kochi Water Metro. This amazing mode of transportation will be the first of its kind in India. This water metro will prove to be a significant step forward in India’s growth in terms of tourism, economy, and transportation. This project is now nearing completion and is all set to be launched by the PM on April 25.

The PM Will Inaugurate Kochi Water Metro

India will witness the inauguration of the water metro in Kochi this month. The inauguration will be done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 25. He also posted about this update from his Twitter handle and rightly called it ‘a significant enhancement to Kochi’s infrastructure’.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also announced the integration via Twitter and revealed the project cost to be ₹1,136.83 crores. Putting 78 international award-winning electric-hybrid boats to use, the Kochi water metro will connect 10 islands once it is functional.

This Water Metro Will Ease Transportation

The starting price for water metro tickets has been set at ₹20, and passengers will also be able to use Kochi 1 cards to travel via both the Kochi metro and the Kochi Water metro. These boats are going to be an extremely effective mode of transportation. The first phase of this project will soon be operational and will offer services from terminal High Court-Vypin to terminal Vyttila-Kakkanad.

According to the general manager of Kerala Water Metro Limited, this would be the first time in the public sector that a large number of boats would function as a single fleet. He also revealed that the boats will be entirely air-conditioned. To make the travel more pleasant, the windows of these boats will be wide enough for passengers to enjoy the view of the backwaters.

Surely, the benefits of this new project will take Kerala and India to new heights.
