IndiGo Chennai-Delhi Flight Delayed By 5+ Hrs; X User Asks, “Cruelty Or Shameful?”

Flight delays look like a frustratingly unavoidable incident these days. You will hear many passengers complaining about changes in the scheduled flight departure timing probably every day. With every passing day, inconveniences like this are on an alarming rise worldwide. Recently, a Chennai-Delhi flight operated by the IndiGo airline faced a delay of more than 5 hours. A social media user slammed the airline for the major issue reported recently.

IndiGo Chennai-Delhi Flight Delayed By Over 5 Hours

Taking to the X platform, Bunny Punia (@BunnyPunia) shared about the consecutive delays reported on this flight to Delhi.

So @IndiGo6E shows its true face today.
6E 2166 was scheduled to fly out at 9pm from Chennai and some of my colleagues were on it.

But look at the screenshots. Delayed to 9:45pm, then to 10:15pm to 11:00pm to 1:30am now.

That’s a delay of 270 mins. Wow!?!

Tagging the official X account of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) India, Bunny Punia shared screenshots of the messages informing passengers concerning multiple flight delays. IndiGo 6E 2166 was scheduled to take off from Chennai at 9 PM. However, the flight departure timing changed and was postponed to more than 5 hours on August 23.

At first, the IndiGo flight from Chennai to Delhi was delayed to take off at 9:45 PM due to operational reasons. Next, the airline alerted that it would depart at 10:15 PM and mentioned operational reasons as the concern to affect the scheduled timing.

Unfortunately, the flight faced another delay and the airline announced 11:00 PM as the new departure time. Well, this was surely not the end of the series of delays. Passengers again received messages stating that the flight would depart from Chennai airport at 1:30 AM.

The flight was already delayed by 4 hours and 30 minutes already. But was this the end of the long dilemma? Sadly, no.

And it’s 2:30am now.

People take a 9pm flight after a long hectic day of work. And Indigo just went ahead and delayed it by 330 minutes. Wtf or ftw? Cruelty or shameful?

Bunny Punia further posted that the IndiGo Chennai-Delhi flight faced another delay. This time, the journey got postponed and it was delayed by around 5 hours and 30 minutes. We can only wonder how all the passengers felt at that moment.

A Netizen Faced A Similar Issue

Achin Kapoor responded to the recent delayed flight post and shared his experience of flying with the airline.

I am the Experiencing the same now @IndiGo6E …They have become pathetic. My flight from Bangalore to Mumbai today 6E – 5255. It was supposed to fly at 18:00 hrs. Got delayed to 18:40 and now 19:20. Don’t know till when this nightmare will go? Is this what we pay for?

Calling IndiGo “pathetic”, he stated that his flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai was scheduled at 6 PM on August 24 for departure. However, it was delayed to 6:40 PM and then to 7:20 PM.
