A recent viral video of a seat malfunction on an IndiGo flight has sparked serious safety concerns across social media. A passenger aboard an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Lucknow had a spine-chilling experience when his seat began swaying violently back and forth in the middle of the journey. The incident, recorded by Instagram user Daksh Sethi (@thewolfofjobstreet), has attracted wide attention, prompting the airline to offer an apology and vow an investigation.
IndiGo Seat Malfunction: Passenger Reveals His Experience
Daksh Sethi posted his experience on Instagram, referring to it as a ‘mini heart attack’ moment. In the clip, he and two other men had been sitting in a row of seats, which suddenly started to swing out of control.
‘The first time it occurred, it was a frightening sensation, to be honest. Never had anything like that happen before. The seats could actually swing back and forth,’ he said.
He commended the crew for quickly moving them to empty seats of the aircraft. But he later realised how serious the matter was when maintenance staff were sent to check on the issue upon landing. The viral clip made IndiGo answer publicly, admitting the event and assuring passengers a proper inquiry.
‘Mr Sethi, thank you for taking time out to speak with us. We sincerely apologise for your onboard experience. This was an anomaly, a very unusual incident, as these seats have a locking mechanism,’ IndiGo said in the Instagram post.
The airline also guaranteed that the customers’ safety remains its top priority and that the issue will be addressed at once.

Mixed Reactions On Social Media
Social media users reacted differently to the incident. Some were humorous, making jokes about the incident, while others condemned IndiGo for its declining standards of service. Some even appreciated Daksh Sethi for posting his experience in a calm and objective manner without blaming the airline directly.
However, several users complained, saying that broken seats and maintenance problems have become more frequent on IndiGo flights. They also pointed out the lack of competition in the airline sector, saying that IndiGo’s service has declined considerably over the past few months.
With the airline probing the seat malfunction, passengers are waiting for quick action to make future travel experiences safer.
