The experience of flying has altered significantly in recent years, and not in a positive manner. Indian airlines are falling short of expectations in terms of management, which is creating serious problems. IndiGo was involved in one such episode, which was undoubtedly unpleasant. A customer who was hurt after falling on the ramp during a flight from Delhi airport in August received an apology from IndiGo.
IndiGo’s Reply & Refund To The Passenger
IndiGo released a statement recently in which they apologised to this passenger for all the inconvenience caused during his flight from Chennai to Delhi in August. In their statement, they mentioned that the airline immediately provided support and medical attention.
They also checked the ramp, and it was dry and in perfect condition as many other passengers used it without any issue being mentioned by the airline. Additionally, they stated that they had offered the passenger a complete refund of the airline ticket, which he instantly accepted.

Incident That Led To Passenger’s Severe Ankle Injury
My harrowing tale with @IndiGo6E , so that others can be careful. 1/n
On Aug 14 early morning I landed in Delhi’s T2 on an Indigo flight from Chennai. As is most common with them, no aerobridge was given, and instead they asked everyone to deboard using their ramps.

The passenger named Ratnendu Ray was disembarking his IndiGo flight in the morning at Delhi airport when he fell on the plane ramp, leading to a severe ankle injury in August. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Gurugram. Currently, he claims he is still unable to walk.
Further, the IndiGo passenger claimed that IndiGo ridiculed his injury and rejected his request for reimbursement. He advised people to exercise caution when flying with IndiGo after sharing his experience on X.
In his post, he mentioned that he hasn’t been able to walk since mid-August due to the costly surgery and hospital stay. He and his family have experienced severe stress, and a full recovery may not occur for at least a year. Ray’s family is left to endure the pain and expense of the surgery and hospital stay since there was no payment made for them.
Check out what people have to say about this.
I’m sorry to hear your story, Ratnendu. Do you think we can initiate a petition that requires the airlines to use aerobridges?

Very sad!! As an active gym goer and sportsman I can totally feel ur pain! I would have sunk into depression myself had it occurred with me…but stay strong…time heals all wounds…it’s nothing!
I am retweeting ur comment…@IndiGo6E should get the SOP done as soon as…— only संयम (@Rajesh78599748) December 5, 2024
@IndiGo6E . Shameful to blame that only one passenger slipped that day.
Is that how you do risk mitigation for pilots as well? Claiming incident hasn’t happened so must not be true?— Vin (@vinfly4) December 5, 2024
Very sorry to hear this. I traveled in the month of November. Chennai-Delhi and back. As you mentioned, no aerobridge at either airports. Only ramp, except during late night return to Chennai where an aerobridge was docked. Found the ramps wobbly too. Really strange.

Incredibly callous, Indigo for you! I regularly use 6E, every 2-3 weeks & been forced to use these slippery ramps instead of aerobridges. News to me that they dodge using the latter to save even more money. I feel devastated by the gravity of your injury. Wish you quick recovery.
