IndiGo Srinagar-Jammu Flight Entered Pakistan Airspace Due To Bad Weather; Lands In Amritsar

India’s largest airline, IndiGo Airlines’ Srinagar-Jammu flight, entered Pakistan airspace. It hovered there for a while and then was diverted to Amritsar, where the plane landed successfully. The airline explained that it was forced to enter the Pakistan airspace because of the bad weather. The flight was supposed to land at Jammu Airport but landed at Amritsar Airport owing to the weather.

On Sunday, an IndiGo Srinagar-Jammu Flight entered the Pakistan airspace due to bad weather. The IndiGo official further explained that before entering the airspace, the authorities concerned in both countries were already informed.

The diversion of the flight was well coordinated by Jammu and Lahore’s Air Traffic Controls (AFCs). The plane entered the Pakistan airspace for a brief time and landed at the Amritsar airport. Despite the weather-related detour, the passengers safely arrived at their destination.

The Airbus A321neo, flight number VT-IBN, is the plane that was involved in the incident, according to a report from Flight Radar 24. It is also a brand-new airplane that is only two months old. It was delivered to IndiGo on June 2, 2023.

This is not the first time that such an incident has happened. Earlier this month, a similar incident occurred where a weather-related entry by an IndiGo Amritsar-Ahmedabad flight into Pakistani airspace was noted.

Due to severe weather, IndiGo flight 6E-645, which was travelling from Amritsar to Ahmedabad, was forced to deviate over Atari and enter Pakistani airspace.

Amritsar ATC successfully organised the deviation over the phone with Pakistan. The flight safely landed in Ahmedabad following the deviation, the crew was in constant communication with Pakistan on R/T, according to an official statement from IndiGo.

The incident happened at around 7:30pm when the plane went to Gujranwala, which is close to Lahore, and then returned back to India at 8:01pm. (As per Live Mint)
