They say never judge a book by its cover. We, however, believe that a city’s airport is a great reflection of what awaits you when you step outside the airport premises. That’s why Pune Airport’s new terminal has caught our eye! The yet-to-be-inaugurated terminal showcases the culture and history of Maharashtra through artworks and they’re absolutely beautiful.
Showcasing The Beauty Of Maharashtra In Its Cultural Capital
The new terminal of the Pune Airport has been under construction for a while and is expected to be inaugurated soon. The Airports Authority of India has been quite active on X (formerly Twitter) to share updates on the progress of construction and the latest pictures show the interiors of this new terminal. And they’re quite impressive – to say the least! The interiors showcase the culture of Maharashtra via murals, wall art, and sculptures.

The very entry of the terminal shows a Shaniwar Wada-like facade with a bronze sculpture of people performing Mallakhamba. In the background of this, you’ll find artworks of Lord Ganesha, ladies performing dhol tasha, Gateway of India, and even the iconic Taj Hotel of Mumbai – everything that reflects some connection to Maharashtra. Inside the airport, there are wall arts exhibiting the history and tourism of Pune in a modern caricature style. There are also murals inside the new terminal building that display the cultural beauty of the state.

Besides the beautiful artwork and interiors, there is a lot more to look forward to at the new terminal of Pune Airport. The terminal is built in an area spanning over 52,000 square metres. It will feature 10 aerobridges and 72 check-in counters for the ease of travellers. There will also be a new multilevel car park and a new cargo complex built around the airport.
Well, we can’t wait for this terminal to be finally inaugurated to see this beauty in person!
