The Maha Metro and Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mandal Limited have arranged shuttle buses between the Ramwadi and Yerawada metro stations to the Pune airport by the end of next month in an attempt to aid travellers. Here are the details of the soon-to-start shuttle service.

The Ramwadi station will be the pick-up and drop-off point for shuttle buses, which will have their bus bays at Yerawada station. The authorities are putting this plan together because there isn’t currently a direct route for travellers to take from the Metro to the airport.

Regular users suggested that feeder service and last-mile connecting arrangements be completed before the Metro extends its route to Ramwadi. A regular flyer from Pune airport claims that the modification will facilitate travellers’ access to the airport. The Metro should have begun service later. Feeder services are now provided by the authorities.

A metro commuter claims that reliable and superior feeder services will stop transit providers from exploiting their clients. Currently, in order to go to the airport, passengers must pay a significant amount of money for auto rickshaws after disembarking at the Yerawada or Ramwadi Metro stations.

Representatives from Maha Metro said that they are in negotiations with the PMPML about matters related to the frequency of feeder buses to the airport. In addition to these feeder buses to the airport, Yerawada station will include PMPML and MSRTC bus stations, a Metro official said, enabling commuters to choose between Metro and bus services. Yerawada is a multimodal station that will be served by three separate public transportation services (Metro, PMPML, and MSRTC).

Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is in the process of launching a smartphone application called ‘Go PMP’ for convenient mobile ticket booking, following the introduction of the UPI payment option for ticket purchases.

By streamlining the ticket-buying procedure, this app will save customers from having to wait for the conductor to arrive at their seats. Alternatively, customers can show the conductor the QR code generated when they purchase the ticket, and the conductor will digitally validate it.

The public reception to the PMPML feeder service, which was introduced to enhance connection for metro train passengers in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, has been outstanding.

The PMPML published income information for its metro feeder buses in September on Thursday. The transport body collected ₹23.82 lahks in Pune city and ₹2.88 lahks in Pimpri-Chinchwad for its metro feeder buses, bringing the total collected to above ₹26 lakh, according to the numbers.

Metro shuttle 2—which runs between Deccan and Warje Malwadi—was the busiest metro shuttle route, earning ₹59.90 per kilometre. Metro shuttle 37—which runs between Pimpri Metro Station and Kivle village—had the lowest revenues, coming in at ₹5.16 per kilometre.

As a result of the increasing demand for feeder buses, there are now 26 buses operating overall. This comprises four buses from the Pimpri-Chinchwad area and 22 buses that operate out of the Pune Metro station.
