Is Destiny Fated Or Do We Write Our Own Destiny? BK Shivani Answers

On this wholesome episode of Stories From Bharat, we took a tour around the tranquil and serene campus of Brahma Kumaris in Mount Abu. Our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani also sat down with Brahma Kumari Sister Shivani or BK Shivani. She enlightened us about a number of topics, from how she started on her journey to whether destiny is pre-written or made. If such topics fascinate you, this episode is the one you certainly shouldn’t miss.

Is Destiny Fated Or Do We Write Our Own Destiny? BK Shivani Has An Answer

Kamiya asked sister Shivani if she thought destiny was preordained or if one writes their own destiny. She mentioned that in a way, both are true. She then went on to explain that one’s actions decide what one’s destiny is.

She makes a comparison between the clothes one wears on a daily basis and the mortal body. She said that when you meet your friend, you may be meeting them in changed clothes, but the body is still the same. Similarly, when you shuffle off this mortal coil, the soul remains the same.

Hence, the karmic debt is still attached to your soul which ultimately decides your fate. Hmm, sister Shivani certainly gave us a lot of food for thought to think about. Hence, your destiny is both, pre-written and it is determined by your actions.

We asked Sister Shivani whether she had always been spiritual. She mentioned that her mother was a part of the movement. She revealed that, at first, she was quite resistant to her mother’s efforts to get her to join the movement. However, as she grew older, a switch flipped inside her and suddenly, she wanted to be a part of the movement.

That was also the year she was supposed to get married so she and her husband decided to lead a celibate married life together. To this day, she describes her marriage as a union of the souls.
