Is It Safe To Travel To Sikkim Now? Government Issues A Travel Advisory

There is simply no doubt about the ethereal natural beauty of Sikkim. Lakhs of tourists travel to this beautiful state each and every month to experience the serenity and witness the picturesque landscapes all around. Unfortunately, this state is currently facing the worst experiences because of terrible incessant rain, flash floods, and tons of damage. The government has made some announcements for travellers.

Here’s A Picture Of The Travel Advisory Shared By The Government:

Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, the Press Information Bureau, Government of India, Sikkim (@PIBGangtok) has shared all about the government’s advisory for visitors. The Sikkim government has advised all the tourists ‘to postpone their travel to Sikkim to a later date after the situation normalises’.

The overflow of the Teesta River has terror struck everyone in Sikkim. Pictures and videos of all the wrecking and damages circulating on social media platforms are simply terror-struck. In times of emergency condition, the Sikkim Government has urged tourists and visitors to postpone their travel plans. ‘All the tourists planning to visit Sikkim are advised to postpone their travel to a later date’, mentioned the advisory.

Also, a lot of people are stuck in the Mangan district. According to reports, this district has been affected badly. For people stranded there, the government urged them not to panic in the travel advisory. The State Government has assured to extend all possible help and support in the evacuation process, stated the advisory. The process is about to start on October 6, subject to weather conditions.

The advisory is also issued for the visitors stuck at Lachung and Lachen areas. It states that tourists stranded at these places ‘are safe and nothing adverse has so far been reported’.

People In Sikkim Are In A State Of Panic & Distress!

The recent flash floods have been the most destructive in the state. Many people have lost their lives with a lot of other suffering injuries. From the National Highway 10 to bridges, infrastructures broke down in just a few minutes. The destruction is simply terrifying and unfortunately, many people are stranded and stuck in the affected regions. From locals to domestic tourists to foreign visitors, everyone is facing harsh consequences.
