All You Need To Know About Jägermeister
We know Jägermeister as a popular liqueur that is part of many delicious cocktails. However, the drink was first developed in Germany in 1934 by Wilhelm and Curt Mast as a digestif, an alcoholic beverage served after a meal to help improve digestion! As per Wikipedia, it has an alcohol by volume of 35% and the original recipe of the drink has not been altered since its creation!
Served in its signature green glass bottle, Jägermeister is made with 56 herbs and spices. While the original recipe is a brand secret, it has been disclosed that the drink contains bitter orange, cloves, and star anise that adds the unique flavour of Jagermeister.
According to WebMD, one shot of Jägermeister liqueur, about 1.5 ounces, has 167 calories, less than one gram of protein, fibre, and fat, 19 grams of carbohydrates and 19 grams of sugar. Since the liquor is highly refined, it mostly has alcohol, water, sugar, and essential oils in it. Because of this, while Jägermeister has a unique flavour, it does not contain significant vitamins or minerals.
