In a slew of incidents where airlines are getting flak for their mistreatment of passengers, IndiGo has weaselled its way onto the list. The airline recently made headlines when it cancelled an Istanbul-Mumbai flight, leaving its passengers helpless.

Mumbai-Istanbul Cancelled IndiGo Flight Leaves Passengers Stranded

Despite their Twitter bio reading “always affordable, on time and hassle-free”, the airline surely has been in the papers for quite the opposite. Passengers scheduled to fly with IndiGo on the Istanbul-Mumbai route on July 2 faced an abrupt cancellation.

They have taken to social media to share their distressing experiences. Many described waiting for over eight hours for another flight and feeling dehumanized by the airline’s treatment.

Numerous passengers expressed dissatisfaction with IndiGo, labelling their overall experience as highly unsatisfactory.

Sucharita, a film critic, and Twitter user had a flight from Istanbul to Mumbai. She was supposed to be aboard the same flight.

She discovered that her flight was cancelled hours before departure, but the airline failed to notify her. Surprisingly, when she checked online, the flight status indicated that the departure was still scheduled on time.

Additionally, Suchitra mentioned that the IndiGo international flight had a codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines. She tweeted that due to the cancellation of the first leg, she would be unable to catch her connecting flight.

Codeshare involves one airline operating a flight while another sells seats on it using its own flight number.

If that wasn’t inconvenient enough, she also found out that Turkish Airlines had no idea about the cancellation. She mentioned that upon calling Turkish Airlines to confirm, they were completely unaware.

Passengers Left Without Food Or Water After IndiGo Cancelled Flight

Varun T Wanvari, an IndiGo flyer, took to Twitter to share a thread describing the hardships he and other passengers faced. They struggled to find food and water during their wait.

Wanvari also mentioned that Turkish Ground Services (TGS) treated them poorly, making them feel like “cattle” while waiting for updates from Indigo.

Gunjan Savla, another passenger, took to Twitter and expressed her frustration. She stated that she had to endure a wait of over eight hours.

This was followed by no help or receiving any updates or proper assistance as a stranded passenger. She mentioned that passengers were left stranded without any proper arrangements to even sit or eat post the cancellation.

Adding to their difficulties, they had to sit on the airport floor as there were limited chairs available. Allegedly, the Indigo officials who promised to assist them had left for the day and could not be reached afterwards.
