Apart from being a place for tourists, Mumbai is famous for its incessant rains! Monsoon is one of the toughest seasons for Mumbaikars as there is heavy rain which results in waterlogging. Being a coastal city, Mumbai is affected by rain every year! Here are some updates related to rainfall in Mumbai.
Heavy Rain And Waterlogged Roads In Mumbai!
After a week of subdued rainfall, Mumbai has witnessed heavy rains lashing back. This has resulted in waterlogging, flooding, traffic jams and so on across the city. Places like Hindmata in Dadar, MIDC Sherawane in Navi Mumbai and others are experiencing waterlogging and traffic jams. Even Western Express Highway near the Airport flyover witnessed heavy traffic.
As for the Mumbai Local, the authorities claimed that the trains were running at their scheduled time. However, commuters disagreed with this. The Times Of India reported that a huge tree fell near Sion Railway Station after the rains started lashing in that area.
According to reports, Dadar, Sion, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Goregaon, Kandivali, Borivali, Malad and other suburban areas are witnessing incessant rainfall. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that heavy rainfall will continue for the next five days!

Andheri Subway Is Shut For Vehicles
Due to water logging, Andheri Subway is closed, while traffic is diverted to Vile Parle bridge &Captain Gore Marg S.V road.

At around 9 in the morning, the Mumbai Traffic Police tweeted that due to waterlogging Andheri Subway was closed. While traffic was diverted towards Vile Parle Bridge and Captain Gore Marg S.V Road. However, vehicle movement at the subway resumed after being closed for a brief period.

As for commuters taking the route, they have shared pics on Twitter stating that there is no traffic police to control the traffic at the Vile Parle signal and Vile Parle Fly Over Road. Further, it takes around thirty minutes to reach S.V Road.
The IMD has alerted locals about the possibility of continuous rains. Further, they have suggested that people should not step out of their houses unless it’s urgent or important.
