It’s Temple Run For Women In Karnataka As Shakti Free Bus Scheme Boosts Spiritual Tourism

It has been about 2 weeks since the Congress government initiated the Shakti scheme in Karnataka. It is a free bus travel facility for women in the state and they can now avail of any of Karnataka’s state-run government buses free of cost. With the launch of this scheme by the government on 11 June 2023, there has been a huge rise in women passengers travelling to various places within the state. Mysuru, home to so many temples and religious places, is experiencing great footfall since the scheme came into action.

The Shakti scheme avails women to travel for free on government buses and they are making the best use of it and travelling to so many places in Karnataka. The footfall of women visitors and devotees is skyrocketing in religious places and temples. According to a report by The New Indian Express, over 4 crore women have already used the scheme’s bus services in just 12 days. The ticket price of these journeys has already cost over ₹100 crores.

Women are visiting so many temples in Mysuru and other cities in Karnataka in groups. Many self-help groups for women are travelling to religious places in the city in a huge number. With the launch of the Shakti scheme, many buses are going all around completely packed with passengers.

There Has Been A Massive Rise In The Temple Collections Too!

With more and more devotees travelling to the iconic temples in the city, the collections in several temples are experiencing a humongous increase. Reports state how the number of visitors to some temples has already increased twice in number. The tourist flow is only increasing and this is surely great news for the temple authorities. In fact, it is expected that the collections are about to increase a lot more in the upcoming days.
