Jagannath Rath Yatra In New York! City Abuzz With Meditative Chants, Colourful Procession And Vibrancy

If you have witnessed ISKCON’s Jagannath Rath Yatra, you surely know what devotion looks like! This celebration of devotion and spirituality is not limited to India. New York City’s streets also witnessed the magic of this celebration. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) had organised the Hare Krishna Festival of India, which is the grand Jagannath Rath Yatra, with meditative chants buzzing around the city streets. 

Jagannath Rath Yatra In New York City

ISKCON had organised the very well known Jagannath Rath Yatra at different venues in New York City from June 9 to June 11. The city was abuzz with meditative chants of “Hare Krishna, Hare Ram,” spreading the message of peace, harmony, unity, and joy. 

The festivities began on June 9, when all the participants gathered at Tompkins Square Park. The beautiful yatra began with a soul-soothing meditative chant. They were all immersed in the wave of devotion, connecting with their inner selves.

On June 10, the celebration included the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balarama, and Lady Subhadra being carried on the streets while people around were dancing and singing. The procession was a display of sheer divine love.

Celebrating Divine Love At Times Square

The divine love celebration then moved towards one of the most famous spots in the world, Times Square. Spectators and devotees indulged in the ecstatic kirtan that was organised at Father Duffy Square. 

The entire aura of this popular tourist spot was filled with captivating tranquillity, happiness, and devotion. The beautiful Rath, or chariot, of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balarama, and Lady Subhadra was enthusiastically pulled by the devotees across the streets of New York. 

The beauty of this Jagannath Rath Yatra Parade and Festival was that it actually drew onlookers to be a part of it. Many people posted videos and pictures of this divine and joyful celebration on their social media handles.
