Kulgam District Administration of South Kashmir in partnership with the Department of Tourism organised Aharbal Mela to promote tourism near the Aharbal waterfall. Located in the Noorabad region of Kulgam district Aharbal waterfall is also known as the Niagara Falls of Kashmir.
South Kashmir Organizes ‘Aharbal Festival’
During Aharbal Mela, several stalls were also set-up by different departments like agriculture, horticulture, floriculture Animal Husbandry, handicrafts, and more. Aharbal Mela even had a series of events including a drawing competition for students. Deputy Commission (DC) Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din flagged off the cycling and trekking events. The mela concluded with an award ceremony for the winners of various activities. All the participants and residents welcomed the mela with open arms and high hopes.

During the Aharbal Mela, multiple stalls were also installed by various departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Sheep,Animal Husbandry, Tourism, KVIB, Apiculture, Floriculture, Handicrafts & other departments. Through these melas or fairs, the government aims to promote 75 distinct tourist attractions in Jammu and Kashmir, as part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

It’s A Feast For The Eyes
Crossing the pine-fringed mountains of the Pir Panjal range, the rapids of the Vishav River plunge 25 meters below, creating a waterfall. This famous waterfall is located in the southwest of the valley in Kulgam district, about 75 km from Srinagar. It is at an altitude of 2266 meters above sea level. The Aharbal development authority has built tourist infrastructure there including huts and even a cafe.
Aharbal waterfall attracts a large number of visitors during the summer season who come here to enjoy the beautiful scenery and enchanting waterfall in the valley. But its beauty increases tenfold during winter! And you should definitely make your way there.
