Japan: Scientists Detect Seismic Activity At The Exact Point Predicted By New Baba Vanga

It wasn’t too long ago when we told you about the new Baba Vanga’s new prediction that left tourists spooked. And it seems that the fears of a megaquake have increased in Japan after the government there stated its need to prepare for a possible disaster. Additionally, scientists have also recorded subtle seismic movements at the exact point as stated by Ryo Tatsuki. Here’s all you need to know about this development coming all the way from Japan.

Japan Government Releases Readiness Plan

As revealed in a report by Hindustan Times, the country might experience an earthquake of magnitude 7 or higher in the next 30 years. The risk, which earlier stood at 75% has increased to 82%. The evaluation is based on a report by the government panel, and the risk of an earthquake is expected in the Nankai Trough.

In fact, going by the warning of Japan’s earthquake research committee, this megaquake, followed by a subsequent tsunami, could cause over two lakh deaths. As a result, Tokyo is already working towards a preparedness plan that would remain valid for the megaquake.

In case you’re wondering, the Central Disaster Management Council in Japan issued a preparedness plan in 2014. This plan included a bunch of measures that are expected to reduce deaths caused by earthquakes by about 80 per cent. However, going by the latest estimates, the current preparedness can only cut the toll by 20% as per the current government.

As a result, a new preparedness plan has been issued to increase this effort. This includes constructing embankments and evacuation buildings, along with regular drills in order to improve public readiness.

Seismic Movements At The Predicted Site

All of these developments come at a time when the world is closely watching Japan this July. After Ryo Tatsukii, who has been dubbed the new Baba Vanga, made some ominous predictions. She mentioned how a crack would open under the seabed between Japan and the Philippines, and the tremors would trigger waves that’d be three times as tall as a tsunami that was witnessed in 2011. In fact, according to a study that has been published in Science has found that the Philippines seaplate is being pushed below Japan and is experiencing slow-slip earthquakes.

Yes, scientists have detected subtle seismic movements near the fault that showcase shallow quakes as per a report by Wion News. Although these quakes do not generate violent tremors, they do gradually cut through the ground. These strains cause ruptures at a rate of only millimetres per day.

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that a megaquake has struck the Nankai Trough every 100 to 200 years. The last one was in 1946, which was recorded at a magnitude of 8.1 and 8.4 on the Richter scale. Then in 2011, it was again struck by an undersea megathrust earthquake, which measured at a whopping 9 to 9.1 on the Richter scale.
