On December 13, 2022, the Yamuna Motorway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) signed an agreement under which the latter will create a thorough project report for Phase 2 of the metro corridor between the Jewar Airport in Noida and the IGI Airport in Delhi.
The proposed route calls for a 66-kilometre metro corridor to link the planned Jewar airport with the New Delhi Metro Station. Passengers can change trains at the NDLS metro station and then ride the airport express metro to get to the IGI Airport. Here’s an update on all that you must know about this route.
The Metro Route And Stations
The route for this line is planned in two segments. While the first one will cover the distance between Noida Airport and Knowledge Park, Greater Noida, the other one will cover the distance between Knowledge Park and New Delhi Railway Station. For the first segment, covering Knowledge Park and Noida Airport, seven stations have been proposed. Of these seven stations, only one is said to be underground. As per the officials, stations at these 4 locations in Noida have been ascertained.
1. The International Film City
2. Techzone
3. Knowledge Park-2
4. Noida International Airport, Jewar
For the other 3 stations, sectors 18, 19, 20, 28, and 29 are the proposed locations. The Noida International Airport station will be underground and the others will be elevated. Knowledge Park-2 metro station will be set up as an interchange stop for Noida-Greater Noida’s Aqua line metro.

The Distance Of The Metro Link
The total length of this metro corridor from the projected Noida International Airport to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is said to be 72 km, of which 35.6 km will be covered by the first segment running from Jewar Airport to Greater Noida. The other 36.4 km will be covered in the second segment connecting Knowledge Park to Delhi. The current Airport Express Line will be used to cover the rest of the distance to the IGI airport.
Project Cost And Its Effect On Travel Time
The entire metro connecting link will reportedly be a high-speed rail service, and considering the distance between the two airports, the predicted journey time is expected to be one hour. The estimated cost of the project, including both phases, is ₹13,000 crore.
The Current Status
Phase one of the new airport is anticipated to begin in September 2024, according to YEIDA. The Yamuna motorway will be parallel to the 35.6-kilometre-long corridor. Initial projections stated that by 2024, when the Noida airport is also anticipated to open for business, at least 17,000 passengers will be able to use the Metro service.
