This Lake In Chennai Will Be Turned Into An Eco Tourism Park

Chennai is all set to get its largest eco-tourism park on the banks of Kadapakkam lake. This project by the Greater Chennai Corporation with an estimated cost of ₹149 crores involves depolluting the lake and beautifying its surroundings. The park will have an area of nearly 149 acres. It will be equipped with a plethora of facilities like a strolling zone, cycling zone, skating zone, fishing zone and children’s play zone. The restoration of the Kadapakkam lake will also increase the depth of the lake and improve its water holding capacity.

The Eco Park Will Have A Miyawaki Forest, A Bird Island And An Open Air Theatre

The Kadapakkam lake spreads over an area of around 134 acres. The lake restoration process will increase its depth by 2 metres. Also, its holding capacity will grow from 1.1 million cubic metres to 2.2 million cubic metres. Once complete, this will be the first eco-park in North Chennai. The lake is located near Chennai’s Manali. The park will have a bird island, an open-air theatre and also a Miyawaki forest. The corporation is utilising funds from the Asian Development Bank for the Kadapakkam lake eco-park project.
