Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, sat down with veteran Bollywood stars Shatrughan Sinha and Paresh Rawal for a special Sunday Brunch. The duo discussed their early lives, journey into the film industry and love stories, and even shared valuable life lessons and tips at Ramayan, the iconic home of Shatrughan Sinha. Over some chakna and chai, the conversation took them back to their nostalgic days in the film industry.
Father to the famous Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, Shatrughan Sinha, is known for his iconic phrase, ‘Khamosh.’ He has appeared in films like Zalzala, Billo Baadshah, Khudgarz, Hirasat, and many more. On the other hand, the iconic Paresh Rawal has played some amazing roles. Whether as the beloved comedian Babu Bhaiya from Hera Pheri or delivering a powerful performance in Oh My God, he remains a favourite of many. The episode is packed with stories, laughter, and timeless moments. Here’s how it all went down.
Why The Name Of Shatrughan Sinha’s House Is Ramayan?
As the trio sat down to discuss life, films, and more, Kamiya asked Shatrughan Sinha about the story behind naming his home Ramayan. He revealed that since he and his four brothers, Ram, Lakhan, Bharat, and Shatrughan, are named after characters from the Ramayan, naming the house Ramayan just made sense. While sipping chai and enjoying chakna (snacks) during this Sunday Brunch, Kamiya pointed out that chakna usually pairs with drinks. To this, the duo laughed and said, “Chakne se toh hum kab ka vanvaas le chuke hain.” Even after all these years, their signature sarcasm hadn’t changed a bit.
Sneak Peek Into Love Lives
Both Shatrughan and Paresh are married to former beauty pageant winners. When Kamiya asked them to share their love stories, Shatrughan Ji revealed how he first met his wife. He said, “Train ke dabbe mein hi meri mulaqat hui thi. Itni sundar ladki maine kabhi nahi dekhi thi. Mere saath kuch log chodne aaye the, lekin woh toh chodne ke nahi, chedne ke mood mein the.” He managed to convince them not to trouble her, warning that they could land in big trouble.
On that train journey, both Shatrughan Ji and his wife were in tears. Shatrughan was upset about leaving his family in Patna, and Poonam was emotional after being scolded by her mother. “Itne saal baad, teen bachon, Love, Khush aur Sonakshi, ke baad bhi hamare character mein koi badlav nahi aaya. Hum aaj bhi ro rahe hain,” he added. Their love stories were like scenes straight out of a Bollywood film.

‘This Or That’ With Paresh Rawal & Shatrughan Sinha
With Curly Tales, talking about meals isn’t optional; it’s tradition. We challenged the duo to a game of ‘This or That,’ making them pick their favourite between two delicious food choices. Paresh Rawal prefers to keep his meals simple and said, “Main bohot simple khane wala aadmi hoon. Mere pet mein kuch bhi rakh do, main kha lunga.” His only condition is that the food must be served on time.
Kamiya presented a list of Gujarati dishes for Paresh to pick his favourites. From Gujarati Thali and Pav Bhaji to Thepla and Paratha, it was a tough choice to make among his all-time favourite Gujarati dishes. And when Shatrughan Ji was asked to make food choices, he shared that one of his favourite dishes is Sattu Bhari Roti. He also mentioned that Sonakshi loves her mother’s Sindhi Kadhi and often calls herself a ‘bindi,’ a fun mix of her Bihari father and Sindhi mother.
Paresh Rawal also revealed that he gave up on sweets and alcohol because of yoga. Shatrughan added, “Main yoga bohot saalon se karta aaraha hoon. Isiliye aaj bardasht ki seema badh chuki hai, aur ghar mein main sab kuch jhel pata hoon.” Both Paresh and Shatrughan shared that they have been practising yoga for many years and encouraged everyone to include it in their lifestyle.
The duo even shared about their first paycheck, film journey and more. Would you like to know about the other conversations we had? Catch the full episode.
