Kamiya Jani Meets Vishnu Manchu For Sunday Brunch; Actor Shares His Go-To Food Dishes And More

Son of one of the most legendary South Indian actors, Mohan Babu, Vishnu Manchu is known for his notable films like Vishnu, Dhee, Denikaina Ready, and more. He has carved his own fiery path, and in this episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, met the famous actor, producer and writer to relish the wholesome South Indian thali at Banana Leaf in Mumbai. The interesting conversation revolved around films, food and everything in between. Here’s how it all went down.

Vishnu Manchu Turns Out To Be A Great Foodie

In a candid conversation with Kamiya, Vishnu was learning how to speak basic Hindi sentences in ‘Mumbaiya style.’ Kamiya asked, “When somebody asks you, ‘ Kaisa hai,’ how do you reply in Mumbaiya style?” To this, Vishnu replied, “Thik hoon.” Kamiya went on to teach him better phrases like “Ek number” or “Zabardast.”

The conversation then turned to Vishnu Manchu’s favourite dishes, and his all-time favourite and go-to food is dosa. Food is his first love, and he believes the best dosas are from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. He is so fond of dosas that he knows every type available in Bangalore, like neer dosa, idiyappam, and many more. He spoke passionately about his love for food and laughingly added, “Don’t get me started on food, girl. I can go on all day.” Vishnu also has a sweet tooth and loves munching on chocolates and biscuits to satisfy his sweet cravings.

He Always Dreamt Of Becoming An Actor

While talking about his upcoming film Kannappa, Vishnu shared how, since childhood, he had always dreamt of becoming an actor. Watching his father’s stardom, Vishnu Manchu always wished to earn the same recognition and loyal fan base. Although he acknowledges the privilege of being the son of a legendary actor, it also came with a lot of pressure, as he had to live up to expectations.

He said, “The pressure is more, and I know all the debates that have happened related to nepotism. Being Mohan Babu’s son definitely helped me with my first film, but if I didn’t have talent, the audience wouldn’t have invested their time and money in me for so many years. What truly works in the industry is hard work, talent, and discipline, not your surname.” One piece of advice from Mohan Babu that Vishnu Manchu always remembers is to be disciplined.

As he shared insights about his upcoming film Kannappa, Vishnu Manchu said, “Lord Shiva has chosen me to tell the story of Kanappa to this generation.” The film’s script is related to Lord Shiva, and he believes the entire project came together only because of Lord Shiva’s blessings. The film was shot in New Zealand, as Vishnu was fascinated by the greenery, crystal-clear water, and serene beauty of the place.

According to him, India’s natural beauty is being ruined by pollution. He said, “I’ve been a history buff since I was a kid.” Vishnu pointed out that our history books focus heavily on the Mughal Empire, but believes there’s still a lot of untold Indian history people need to learn. He clarified that Kannappa is not a mythological film but a historical and devotional one.

The actor also shared details about the film’s budget and how he managed to bring together a huge cast. To know everything Vishnu Manchu said, watch the full episode on the Curly Tales YouTube channel.
