A tragic accident has been reported in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal on Monday morning. According to reports, the Kanchanjungha Express collided with a goods train. The express was hit by the goods train from behind. The incident was reported in the Phansidewa area in Darjeeling. Unfortunately, many have sustained injuries and at least 5 people have lost their lives.

Social media platforms and news channels are flooded with visuals of the horrible collision of two trains. The dilapidated train parts look gruesome and trigger panic. Here are some pictures and videos of the collision of the Kanchanjungha Express with a goods train.

The Kanchanjungha Express was on its way to Sealdah in West Bengal. It was travelling from Assam’s Silchar. The accident was reported en route near New Jalpaiguri. At least 5 passengers on board the express train have passed away. About 25 have sustained injuries because of the terrible collision between the Kanchanjungha Express and the goods train.

Visuals circulating on social media show the horrifying state following the collision. A part of the Kanchenjunga Express is seen suspended in the air. Coaches are in a ramshackle state with two derailed coaches out of all.

According to a report by India Today, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) shared updates about an emergency medical team visiting the accident spot in the Darjeeling district. Also, a helpdesk is in operation at the Sealdah railway station in Kolkata.

Disaster teams, doctors, ambulances, and different departments have rushed to the accident scene to start rescuing people. The operations are underway currently.

Senior officials of different departments have the responsibility to look over the entire process. They are working relentlessly to rush the injured people to hospitals for treatment, according to a report by Livemint.

West Bengal CM Tweeted On The Accident

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that “DM, SP, doctors, ambulances and disaster teams” have arrived at the site. They are rescuing, recovering people, and providing medical assistance.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tweeted “NDRF and SDRF are working in close coordination”.
