Every other day, a new trend takes over the internet, and its latest obsession is the Labubu doll. Not only influencers, but many national and international celebrities are swooning over this viral doll. Karan Johar’s daughter, Roohi, is the latest to join the trend. The filmmaker took to Instagram to share a video in which his daughter declared Labubu her friend.

Labubu is a character of “The Monsters” series by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung. It was initially a part of a book series, but it soon turned into the internet’s latest obsession after a Chinese toy company, Pop Mart, started to sell it in mystery boxes. These boxes featured randomly selected Labubu figures, and they were also sold in the auctions.

The Labubu dolls rose to popularity after many national and international celebrities started using them as a bag charm, grabbing the attention of youngsters. What makes the Labubu doll special and different? Labubu dolls look different from other dolls. It has a furry body, bunny ears, wide eyes, and sharp teeth that give it a quirky touch.

Karan Johar’s eight-year-old daughter Roohi was recently spotted with this viral doll. The filmmaker posted a video on Instagram where he asks her, “Roohi, do you really want to follow this trend?” To which she replies, “It’s not a trend, it’s my friend.” Posting this video on Instagram, he wrote, “Can’t argue with that, can I ? #labubutakeover.”

Netizens React To The Video

Karan Johar’s latest video received lots of warm responses from fans and celebrities. Actor Ishan Khatter commented, “Lawhoboo?” while Sophie Choudry wrote, “Well said, Roohi.”

Apart from celebrities, many other people also shared their thoughts in the comment section, where one wrote, “It’s my friend, she said, and that’s all,” and some showered her with love, hearts and laughter emojis.

The character that was initially just a part of a book series has now turned into an obsession. It’s rapidly being used by youngsters as a bag charm, decorative items, and some are even planning to collect their various editions. The Labubu fever isn’t fading anytime soon, and its popularity is constantly increasing.
