Actress Karishma Tanna graciously invited our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani and us to her luxurious home in Bandra, Mumbai. Apart from taking Kamiya around her home, she also took her for a food trail through Bandra’s bustling streets. What followed was a conversation on the go about her love for food, acting journey, Gujarati vibes and more. She also revealed at what age she started acting.
Karishma Tanna Started Acting At The Age Of 17
Karishma Tanna and Kamiya Jani’s first stop on the show was Eat Around The Corner, a chic European eatery in Bandra’s Pali Hill known for its fresh garden salads, fresh bakes and pastries. Once the power women were done choosing their salad combinations, Karishma revealed that despite being a Gujarati, she doesn’t have a sweet tooth. To this, Kamiya remarked, “How strange! This means you aren’t a Gujarati!”
The actress revealed that she decided to become an actor at the tender age of 17. Karishma said, “I just thought I wanted to do something on my own and I wanted to be independent.” Were her parents happy with her decision to take up acting as her career? “My dad was not at all happy. He thought I had gone mad since I wanted to quit my education and learn acting.” However, once she was successfully able to manage acting and studies, her bond with her dad improved.

Smriti Irani Made Her Feel Comfortable During The Audition
In the Tere Gully Mein episode, Karishma Tanna said Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was a rage and a cult. Meeting the entire star cast of the show for the first time seemed like a dream come true for the actress. Her audition involved acting in front of the entire cast. If she performed well and it looked good on screen, her audition would be converted into an actual scene in the show. Tulsi AKA Smriti Irani, a half Gujarati herself, made Karishma Tanna feel comfortable. And that’s how Karishma was able to crack her audition and be part of the iconic show.
