Several parts of Karnataka continue to receive heavy rainfall. According to the weather forecast, the weather is expected to worsen with massive downpours lashing the state in the next couple of days. Continuous showers triggered waterlogging in many areas, causing traffic congestion and more issues. Karnataka Government Declared Holiday For Bengaluru’s Schools And Colleges
Taking to X, Citizens Movement, East Bengaluru (@east_bengaluru) shared a video of a waterlogged area under the Carmelaram Railway overbridge in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru woke up to a drenched morning on Tuesday and it has been raining continuously since then. The Indian Meteorological Département has already issued an orange alert for rainfall in the city. There are chances for massive showers in the city on October 17 and the next couple of days. Because of the changing weather, the Karnataka government declared a holiday for schools and colleges in the capital city.
The official holiday for students has been announced for October 16 only, as of now. On Tuesday, Bengaluru Urban District collector Jagadeesha issued the official order. Valmiki Jayanti falls on October 17. So, Thursday will be a holiday too. Though schools, colleges, and educational institutions will be shut tomorrow, government offices will continue operating accordingly.
Bengaluru witnessed a chaotic traffic disruption this morning. Sudden torrential rainfall wreaked havoc in the city and the smooth flow of vehicles was severely hit, especially during the peak morning hours. Waterlogging was a major reason for traffic congestion. Pictures and videos of cars and other vehicles waiting on Hennur-Bagalur Main Road, Outer Ring Road, Hoodi Junction, and multiple locations surfaced on social media platforms.

According to necessary information shared by the Indian Meteorological Department, the city is likely to remain dampened this entire week. The upcoming couple of days are on a high alert for heavy showers. In addition, some areas in the city may receive moderate rainfall.
The worrisome weather may abandon the first test match between India and New Zealand at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
