Several parts of Kerala have been impacted harshly by the incessant heavy rainfall. The weather was quite stormy causing massive downpours in the state and triggering landslides, destroying properties, and more. The present situation is grim and heartbreaking in most places. Locals had to leave their homes and rush to nearby relief camps seeing the fearful effects of rain.

Heavy Rainfall Continues To Disrupt Kerala

Netizens took to the X platform to share pictures and videos of recent conditions in many places. Their posts are shared below.

It has been some time since we have come across the news of this beautiful state being affected by worrisome rainfall and gusty winds. It looks like nothing is improving as the weather conditions continue to get worse. According to a report by The Times of India, Kerala is currently on high alert after getting hit by massive rainfall and strong winds on Tuesday. Several areas of Central and Southern Kerala experienced horrible times because of the adverse weather conditions.

If you have plans to travel to Kerala soon, it is the best idea to either cancel or postpone your trip. The conditions are so chaotic that you will not be able to visit many places. Also, the authorities have closed the entry of visitors to different locations. Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram are shut down for travellers. Shockingly, there is a red alert for the Ernakulam and Kottayam districts. Tourists cannot visit the famous hilly locations of Idukki during the night hours. Keep yourself well informed whether the locations on your itinerary are open for tourists. Then, decide to travel.

As of now, there have been quite a few landslides and flood-like situations in places. With an alert for heavy rainfall in some parts of Kerala, the risks of landslides and flooding rise too. Residents of the affected places are witnessing one of the worst phases of their lives. Many people’s houses are breaking down. Incessant downpours also led to major traffic congestion.

What Are The Weather Predictions?

It won’t be an exaggeration to say that the people of Kerala are fed up with the monsoon and do not wish for rainfall for the next few weeks. According to a report by The Weather Channel, Kerala is likely to receive rainfall in several places along with thunderstorms on May 30. The forecast for May 31 predicts widespread rainfall and thunderstorms in the state.
