Last year, it was the migrant labourers who suffered the wrath of the pandemic the most. While many came forward to help them get their respective destinations during the lockdown, others were left stranded on the road. Sonu Sood helped many workers reach their homes. During the 2020 festive season, many Durga puja pandals were dedicated to the migrant labourers and rightly so. Kerala would be showcasing the history of the world labour movement in its houseboat tourism hub, Alappuzha.

The Museum Will Feature Exhibits From Across The Continent
The museum will feature exhibits that shaped the labour movements across the continents and impacted. Alappuzha is the cradle of the country’s labour movement. Displaying the town’s rich maritime heritage, the Labour Movement Museum, will be the first such window in the country on workers’ spirited fight.
Alapuzzha Is A Tourist Hub In The Making
Located alongside the Port and Coir museums, the labour museum project will appeal to the tourists. The history of Kerala’s labour movement will be portrayed through pictures, documents and other exhibits. Alapuzzha’s history dates back to the Western colonialism, Alappuzha had a virtual monopoly over the production of coir made of coconut husk which had immense global demand. Besides, Alappuzha is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and has a prosperous commercial and maritime heritage.
The Museum Will Open After The Restoration Of Heritage Structures
The project will serve scholars specialising in commercial and labour- related topics. The Museums will open as soon as the restoration of heritage structures is complete.
