Everyone knows about the infamous crowd of Mumbai railway stations and Mumbai local trains. As days are passing, the number of passengers and congestion is increasing as well. And to avoid problems faced because of congestion, the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation is all set to redevelop some railway stations in the city. A major priority is given to the small railway stations as these places face a lot of issues because of the rise in daily commuters and passengers.
Here’s All You Need To Know About The Reconstruction Of Several Mumbai Railway Stations
According to a report by Hindustan Times, a total of 18 stations are a part of this project. At the present moment, the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation is beginning the process of redeveloping and revamping 6 railway stations. Also, this whole makeover of stations of Central line and Western line is a part of the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP)-3A.
Stations on the Central line:
- Ghatkopar
- Kasara
- Neral
Stations on the Western line:
- Kandivali
- Khar Road
- Mira Road

Some officials of the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation shared that the reconstruction process has already been initiated. At the present moment, the department is working on the initial parts of redeveloping the Khar Road railway station and Ghatkopar railway station. Also, the entire project for these stations has been divided into several phases as well. In fact, the tenders for the above-mentioned railway stations of Central line and Western line are reviewed and awarded too.

Not just these 6 stations, there are more stations waiting in line to get a makeover. The tenders for these stations are uploaded already. The uploading of tenders took place on 7 June.
Stations on the Western Railway:
- Bhayandar
- Mumbai Central
- Nallasopara
- Santacruz
- Vasai Road
Stations on the Harbour line of Central Railway:
- Chembur
- GTB Nagar
- Govandi
- Mankhurd
Stations on the Main Line:
- Bhandup
- Dombivali
- Mulund
Also, the development work on these stations will be allotted to the contractors in LOTS, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Once all the constructions on the railway stations are complete, it will indeed be a major advantage for the daily commuters and passengers to avoid congestion and travel conveniently.
