Khau Galli At JLT Serves Indian Street Food With A Bollywood Twist

India has always been synonymous with three things- Bollywood, food and music! The concept has now made its way into Dubai’s food scene, satiating Bollywood lovers and foodies in one go. Khau Galli (Translating to food street in Hindi), at JLT binds food and Bollywood, in a quirky way.

What’s It?

Nestled in the buzzing lanes of JLT, Khau Galli is known for serving India’s favourite street food, but with a quirky twist. For starters, the restaurant boasts a Bollywood theme with vibrant interiors. You can choose to dine amidst a colourful setting inside or along pick a table along the waterfront outside.

A palette of colours splashed on the furniture, caricatures of Bollywood stars, and famous dialogues adorning the walls, is what you will see at this Bollywood-inspired restaurant. Bright coloured sofas and old fashioned dining chairs serve as seating options while street carts double up as the centre table.

What’s On The Menu

Taking inspiration from Mumbai’s street food, Khau Galli brings on your plate all-time favourites including chaat, Chinese, Tandoori, roti, biryani, and much more. For starters, order a Khau Galli special chaat platter or settle for light bites like Samosa, onion pakora or Kachori.

For The Love Of Chaat

What is sure to catch your attention is the way the restaurant serves their delicacies. The chaat platter is the hero of the restaurant, offering over seven different varieties, served on a khatiya (an Indian-style bed). The platter includes four pani puris- served in a wooden cart with paani alongside in shot glasses, two masala puris, two sev puris, two papdi chaat, one vada pav bite, a mini Chole tiki, a Mini dahi vada and Bhelpuri served in an edible bowl. If this does satiate your chaat craving, here’s more.

The restaurant is running a Pani puri fest this week, serving unlimited pani puris for just AED 15. So, gather your friends and having a pani puri challenge!

All-Time Favourites

If you’re dropping by to grab a quick bite, we highly recommend the Cheesy Maggi Masala. India’s favourite street style maggi just got a cheesy twist at Khau Galli and we just can’t get enough of it. Pair it with a glass of cutting chai and no more missing India. Wish to binge a little more? The restaurant serves an unlimited lunch thali (AED 20) consisting of serving starter, a vegetable, a paneer sabzi, dal, roti ,rice, salad, pickle, papad and dessert.

For The South Indian Lover

Although the restaurant boasts a Bollywood theme, there is a little something for those who love  menu is not restricted to the North. Khau Galli also has a dedicated ‘Anna Ki Galli’ (brother’s street), serving dishes from the South. On the menu foodies will find an impressive variety of dosas, including the restaurant’s Signature dosa. Layered with Upma, and stuffed with veggies and dollops of butter, this one’s a meal in itself.

Nothing Like Maa Ke Haath Ka Khana

Another section on the menu that will take you on a nostalgic trip is the ‘Maa Ke Haath Ka Ghar Wala Khana’. Nothing can beat the joy of eating a simple meal cooked by your mother, right?
