A horrifying accident was reported in Kolkata’s Acropolis Mall on Friday. Just a couple of hours back, a major fire broke out at this shopping complex in Sector 1. The shops and outlets were open during the incident and many people were seen inside the mall during the terrifying fire episode. According to several reports, the fire was witnessed at the food court of Acropolis Mall during the afternoon.

Fire engulfed the food court of the shopping mall. It was about 12:40 PM when the fire was reported. Pictures and videos of smoke surrounding all around are making rounds on social media platforms. Fire reported at any place is indeed a worrisome accident. Everyone was petrified as there were visitors inside the mall.
According to a report by The Telegraph India, there are no updates on any casualties or injuries. Rescue operations began quickly and the concerned departments evacuated all the people successfully and safely. Viral videos on social media and news channels show queues of fire engines outside Acropolis Mall to douse the flames.
Kolkata Traffic Police Department’s senior official shared updates on vehicular movement in that area. There were multiple fire engines parked outside the mall. The traffic police department carefully controlled the traffic in that area, according to a report by The Times of India.

Fire extinguishing vehicles started their operations around 50 minutes after the incident. There were 15 tenders for the firefighting operations. Firefighters went inside thick sheets of smoke to bring the blaze under control. They found the food court and parts of the mall to be completely covered with layers of smoke.
Managing the smoke-filled situation was a major task. The electricity was cut off following the incident. The teams first smashed the window panes and then the smoke could come out of the mall. There were a few issues regarding the fire exit of the building. The exit was covered with litter and garbage.
