More Trains Will Run On The Orange Line Of The Kolkata Metro Soon
Taking to X, Soumyadip Dutta (Bengal Infra Updates) (@lofITechie) shared key updates about metro services on the Orange Line.

Kolkata Metro will run 74 services from August 5 with an interval of 20 mins, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Earlier the last train was till 6:40 p.m.

Metro Railway Kolkata released a Press Release for Kolkata metro operations on July 31, 2024. It stated the significant announcement of the authorities finally increasing the frequency of metro services on the Orange Line. Metro trains on this line operate between Kavi Subhash and Hemanta Mukhopadhyay Metro stations.
According to the recently made announcement, 74 metro services will start operating on this line from August 5, 2024. Starting from Monday, this metro stretch will record a total of 37 trains each providing services on UP and DOWN directions.
Currently, the metro authorities are running 48 train services from Monday to Friday; 24 each in both directions. With the new decision coming into action in the next few days, trains will operate “at an interval of 20 minutes”, according to the Press Release. The decision for additional metro services on the Kolkata Metro Orange Line has been taken to experiment.
The release also asked people to ignore the information about metros running on Saturdays on this line.
More Updates About These Metro Operations
Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer, stated that service hours will see an extension as well. Metros will be available from 8 AM from Kavi Subhash and Hemanta Mukhopadhyay metro stations. The last metro will depart at 8 PM.
- Instead of 9 AM, the first metros will leave Kavi Subhash and Hemanta Mukhopadhyay metro stations at 8 AM.
- The last metros will leave the terminal stations at 8 PM instead of 4:40 PM.
