According to Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will allocate four additional buses. These will enhance Munnar’s tourism potential. Mr Ganesh Kumar said the double-decker bus service would provide visitors with a novel experience as he launched a new double-decker bus for tourism in Munnar on Saturday.
The Double-Decker Bus Offers A New “View” Of Munnar
The Munnar Royal View double-decker bus, according to officials, is made to offer a 360-degree view of the high mountains and tea plantations. There are seats for 38 people on the upper deck and 12 on the lower deck of the transparent bus with glass panels. The bus will travel the Munnar-Devikulam route four times a day. It comes with all sorts of luxuries like water, snacks, drinks and charging points that add to the beauty of Kerala’s favourite hill station.
The double-decker bus service, he continued, will not jeopardise the hill station’s existing tourism-related amenities. The Minister declared, ‘The bus will offer a new view of Munnar.’
KSRTC’s Commitment To Enhancing Tourism
The KSRTC in Munnar has requested proposals to build a five-star hotel on its property. He stated that the KSRTC would be computerised within six months and that the corporation would run bus services from Munnar to other tourist locations. Later, the Minister led the first journey from the Munnar KSRTC bus stop to the Munnar-Bodimettu National Highway’s Gap Road viewpoint. The event was presided over by Devikulam MLA A. Raja. Among those in attendance were KSRTC Central Zone CTO T.A. Ubaid, Budget Tourism Cell CTO R. Udaya Kumar, KSRTC Munnar Unit Officer N.P. Rajesh, and KSRTC Managing Director P.S. Pramod Shankar.
The KSRTC’s tourism efforts have been appreciated by all kinds of travellers. Devotees travelling to the various places of worship in Kerala like Iskcon Trivandrum, too, were able to experience the beauty of the state as they made their journey.
