Lassis In Kolkata: Best Places To Try Sandesh Lassi And More

Kolkata summers are less about temperatures and more about humidity. If you check the mercury levels in the city during the summer months, they will be probably much lower as compared to the northern counterparts of the country. But God save you from the humidity here! Summers mornings in Kolkata get tiresome making people almost breathless by the middle of the day. Thankfully, the city serves some creamiest lassis that can give you some relief from the scorching weather. So, where to find the best lassis in Kolkata? Here are 4 options:

1. Near Shyambazar Lifeline Medical Shop

The lane beside Shyambazar 5 Point Crossing that houses the Lifeline Medical Store is dotted with many lassi shops. They serve extremely delicious lassis of different flavours. Topped with an array of dry fruits and sometimes even sandesh ( a sweet form in Bengal), the lassis are absolutely soul-satisfying. Beat the heat with plain lassis, mango lassis, rose lassis, green mango lassis, chocolate lassis and more.

2. Beside Esplanade Post Office

The shop at the start of the lane beside the Esplanade Post Office remains busy all throughout the day selling drool-worthy mango lassis topped with makha sandesh, cherry and dry fruits. Esplanade is the most popular hub in Kolkata for street shopping and it houses some oldest offices too. The lassi shops here come to the rescue of weary shoppers and corporates during summer.

3. Near Badha Ghat, Howrah

Want to indulge in lassis after a short ride on the Ganges? Take a ferry to Howrah’s Badha Ghat and walk for around four minutes to spot a shop with big kulhads lined up for serving lassis. The breeze from the Ganges will soothe your soul and the delicious lassi will calm your senses.
