“Last Time, Saw Old Woman Wheezing,” Vikas Khanna Thanks Mumbai Airport For Carpet Replacement

Earlier this month, Chef Vikas Khanna suffered a severe asthma attack after arriving at Mumbai Airport. He later took to social media to raise the issue, clarifying that while the airport staff was doing its job, the airport’s carpets had become a trap for dust and allergens. The good news is that when he flew into the city again last night, he was pleasantly surprised to see that a major section of the carpets had been replaced.

On January 2, Chef Vikas Khanna took to Instagram to share his concerns about the dusty carpets at the Mumbai Airport. Calling the carpet “absolutely unnecessary & unacceptable”, he highlighted how they were also “beyond cleaning.” To his surprise, as he flew back from Dubai last night, he saw how a major section of those carpets was being replaced.

“A few weeks ago, when I landed at Mumbai airport, I suffered a severe asthma attack. I reached for my inhaler, trying to steady myself. Moments later, I noticed an elderly woman—she looked so much like my grandmother—struggling to pull her luggage, wheezing loudly. My heart stopped,” he shared in the post.

“I spoke up then about the old, dust-laden carpets that had accumulated over the years, believing they were a major cause of what both of us were experiencing. Today, flying back from Dubai, I noticed major sections of those carpets being replaced. I am deeply humbled and grateful,” he added.

Thank you, Mumbai Airport,” he thoughtfully shared in the post.
