As India continues to grapple with the dreaded second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the country recorded 165,553 fresh cases on May 30 and 3460 fatalities in the last 24 hours. Battling a shortage of vaccines, hospital beds, medicines, oxygen concentrators and other healthcare fatalities, several states extended lockdown to curb the rapid spread of the virus. Earlier, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh extended lockdown till June 7. And now some other states have joined the suit. Here are 5 states that extended curbs to battle the second wave.
1. Maharashtra Extended Lockdown Till June 15
Maharashtra extended the Covid curb till June 15. But the state has also announced few relaxations in districts with less than 10 per cent Covid-19 positivity rate, including Mumbai and Pune. Essential sops are permitted to stay open for 3 hours longer than before. Delivery of both essential and non-essential items continue to be allowed. Post 3 pm, movement of vehicles will be restricted and government offices can only operate at 25 per cent capacity, as part of the lockdown restrictions till June 15.

2. Delhi Extends Lockdown Till June 7
Delhi commences its unlock process from May 31. The capital shall ease restrictions but other lockdown curbs continue to stay in place till June 7. Delhi continues a ban on wedding ceremonies hosting more than 30 guests. Liquor bars and dine-in restaurants will also remain shut. Delhi metro services will stay suspended. The movement of employees and workers engaged in permitted activities will be allowed on showing an e-pass issued by the Delhi government.
3. Telangana Extends Lockdown Till June 9
Telangana has extended its lockdown for another 10 days till June 9. Daily relaxation has also been extended from 6 am to 1 pm instead of the earlier 6 am to 10 am. Limited revival of economic activity will also take place. Telangana government has also decided that students travelling abroad for higher education will be given vaccination on priority. But the lockdown restrictions continue to stay in place till June 9, with few relaxations.

4. West Bengal Extends Lockdown Till June 15
Another state to extend lockdown restriction is West Bengal. The West Bengal government extended its ongoing Covid curbs till June 15. Only essential services like healthcare, media, drinking water, law and order, courts, jail and power can function. All government and private office, malls, pubs, parlours and sports complexes remain shut. E-commerce deliveries of both essential and non-essential products are permitted.
5. Goa Extends Lockdown Till June 7
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant extended lockdown in the state till June 7 to curb the rising covid cases in the beach destination. The curbs will stay effective till 7 am on June 7. During the curfew, stores selling essential items and liquor stores are allowed to stay open from 7 am to 1 pm. Restaurant kitchens and medical stores are permitted to operate from 7 am to 7 pm during the extended lockdown till June 7.
