London: Small Plane Crashes After Takeoff At Southend Airport; All Flights Cancelled

A small plane crashed at London Southend Airport in Essex on Sunday afternoon, shortly after takeoff. The flight was en route to Lelystad, Netherlands. Small Planes Crashes At London Southend Airport

According to The Times of India, a small plane, operated by Zeusch Aviation, crashed minutes after takeoff from the London Southend Airport. Visuals on social media have captured the thick black smoke rising from the crash site. The airline has confirmed that its flight SUZ1 was involved in the incident and is providing full support to the authorities for the investigation.

Several media reports have confirmed that the aircraft involved in the crash was a Beechcraft B200 Super King Air, a 12-metre-long turboprop plane. The plane was on its way to the Netherlands’ Lelystad. It had, reportedly, flown earlier on Sunday from Athens, Greece, to Pula, Croatia, before arriving at London Southend Airport.

The Essex Police, in a statement, said that the local police and emergency services rushed to the airport shortly after the crash was reported at London Southend Airport at around 4 PM (local time) on Sunday. The Rochford Hundred Golf Club and Westcliff Rugby Club were also evacuated due to their proximity to the incident.

All Operations Suspended At The Airport

According to the latest updates, there has been no confirmation of the number of people on board or whether there were any injuries or casualties from the crash at London Southend Airport. For now, the airport has cancelled all flights and decided to shut operations. At least five international flights were cancelled, and there is no update on when the airport operations will resume.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is now underway. As per the eyewitnesses, the plane went down three to four seconds after takeoff. One of the eyewitness accounts is that the plane took a sharp left turn, flipped, and crashed head-first into the ground before bursting into flames.
