The New York City (NYC) Subway is one of the most used modes of transportation in the city. If you’ve travelled via its trains, you know that it has its own distinct personality and culture. However, the next time you visit it, you’ll find some of the routes shifted. The F and M trains will be rerouted and their paths will witness frequent suspensions. Here are all the details available about this.
NYC Subway Trains F And M To Have Their Routes Changed
According to an article recently published by TimeOut New York, the F and M trains of the NYC Subway will now be rerouted and even suspended frequently. This is because of the track reconstruction programme that is currently going on.
This means that those who travel regularly by these two trains may have to spend more time and money in order to get to their destination. The replacement tracks are being placed along 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Center and will cause disruption.
These disruptions, it seems, are here to stay for a while as the work may last until 2024. The alternate schedule and route for the F and M trains were put into effect on the 28th of August. This particular update is sure to inconvenience the passengers who travel via it regularly.

Between 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Center and Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue, the F train will be rerouted via the E Line. On weekdays, the F train services will be suspended between 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Center and Forest Hills-71 Avenue. Further, the F train will also be suspended between 12 AM and 5 AM.
On the other hand, the M train will operate between 6 AM and 9 PM from Middle Village-Metropolitan Avenue to Manhattan’s 57 Street/6th Avenue on weekdays. From the 30th of August, however, the M train will shut down and will resume on the 5th of September.
On the weekends the F train will ply on its usual route between Essex Street and Metropolitan Avenue.
