Are Indians so stuck on Chausa, Langra or Hapus mangoes that they don’t acknowledge the rest of the scrumptious varieties of mangoes? The southern region of India has a significant supply of mangoes that are far better than the ones found in the northern region. Actor Madhavan revealed this on mangoes in this episode of Power Breakfast. He joined our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, for hearty conversations and a healthy breakfast.

Madhavan Raves About The Flavoursome Mangoes Of The South

We played a fun game of ‘Do or Ditch’ with Madhavan when we stumbled upon his favourite fruit. He happily, almost in a singing manner, told us that he loves mango. Next, he looked right at the camera, as if speaking to the Curly Tales followers, and declared, “To all the Hapus (Alphonso mango) fans, my apologies. But you have no idea about what good mangoes taste like!”

Madhavan shifted his attention to the Kamiya and told her to visit south India for delicious and juicy mangoes. He asked her whether she had any idea about the distinct types of mangoes found in the southern regions of India like Jahangir Pasand, Imam Pasand, Banganapalli, and Chinna Rasalu.

Madhavan almost drooled by just naming them, meanwhile, Kamiya looked clueless as she had never heard anything like that. He also highlighted that people have hybridised Hapus so much over the years that it has lost its charm. He believes that now Hapus has a bland sweet taste to it.

Madhavan continued raving about the juicy and delectable mangoes of the south and said that Nattu Manga is a desi mango which doesn’t look tempting. It has green-coloured skin with a generous amount of nutritious fibre inside. Typically, you have to squeeze the fruit slowly so that the pulp becomes softer.

After that poke a hole from one side and drink the sweetness of Nattu Manga mango! You will experience what heaven tastes like! Lastly, he said with much emphasis, “Imam Pasand has got a flavour to die for!” Now, we have to explore more types of mangoes!
