Mahabaleshwar, a historic hill station in Maharashtra’s Satara district, is set to become an international tourist destination. The former summer capital of the Bombay Presidency is renowned for its lush greenery, scenic vistas, colonial mansions, strawberry farms and honey production. It is perched at 4,500 feet in the Sahyadri Ranges of the Western Ghats. The town derives its name from Lord Shiva (Mahabali), whose temple stands in old Mahabaleshwar. It will soon host the Mahabaleshwar Tourism Festival to cement the destination as a prime international tourist destination.
