Mahaparinirvan Diwas: Public Holiday In Mumbai & Travel Advisory

On Dr BR Ambedkar’s death anniversary or Mahaparinirvan Diwas, Mumbai will observe a public holiday. A general administration department directive states that all government and non-government offices, schools, and institutions in Mumbai and its surroundings will be closed on Wednesday.

Travel Advisory In Mumbai:

On December 4–7, Mumbai enacted traffic restrictions in observance of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s 67th birthday, also known as Mahaparinirvan Din. A traffic advisory has been issued by the Mumbai Police for Chaitya Bhoomi in Shivaji Park, Dadar, Mumbai.

Many of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s supporters are expected to attend Chaitya Bhoomi on December 7. Certain rules and regulations have been put in place to help manage traffic congestion and allow for easy vehicle movement within and around Shivaji Park. The following traffic restrictions will be in place from 6 AM on December 5, 2023, to midnight on December 7, 2023, to guarantee a smooth flow of traffic.

Full Restrictions:

1. Swatantryaveer Savarkar Road – closed from Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Junction to Hinduja Hospital

2. SK Bole Road – converted into a one-way road; traffic not permitted from Portuguese Church to Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Junction.

3. Closed for vehicles: Rande Road, Dnyneshwar Mandir Road, Jambhekar Maharaj Road, Keluskar Road South and North, M.B. Raut Road, and T.H. Katariya Road.

Restriction For Heavy Vehicles:

1. S.V.S. Road (Mahim Junction to Hardikar Junction)
2. Gokhale Road (Gadkari Junction to Dhanmil Naka)
3. L.J. Road (Mahim Junction to Gadkari Junction)
4. Senapati Bapat Road (Mahim Railway Station to Vadacha Naka)
5. Tilak Bridge (Dadar T.T. Circle to Veer Kotwal Udyan)

Travel Advisory In Noida:

On the occasion of BR Ambedkar’s death anniversary on Wednesday, December 6, the Noida Traffic Police has released a traffic advisory. Ambedkar was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. Another name for the day is Mahaparinirvan Diwas. Traffic will be diverted because Noida Traffic Police anticipates a large gathering at the Dalit Prerna Sthal on the festival of Mahaparinirvan Diwas, according to a statement posted on its official X (previously Twitter) feed.

Routes:

Police authorities say that traffic from Mahamaya Flyover will be redirected to Sector 37 if there is traffic congestion at the Dalit Prerna Sthal on the Noida-Greater Noida Motorway.

That route will allow traffic from Sector 37 to Attapir Chowk, Rajnigandha Chowk, and Sector 15 Golchakkar to reach its goal.

Traffic from Sector 18 would be redirected via Rajnigandha Chowk, Sector 15 Golchakkar Chowk or the Sector 18 underpass if it is reported at Dalit Prerna Sthal’s gate number 4.

Traffic will be redirected from the Sector 14A flyover to the Sector 15 roundabout from the DND Flyway and Film City flyover in Noida towards Greater Noida. From Sector 15 Golchakkar Chowk, this traffic will be able to proceed through Sector 37, Attapir Chowk, and Rajnigandha Chowk.

Special Trains And Arrangements By Central Railway

To handle the influx of travellers in the city, Central Railway will operate 12 additional local services in addition to 18 special long-distance trains to and from Mumbai. At Dadar and other Mumbai stations, more members of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) are being stationed. In addition to 12 more suburban services, the CR will run 18 special long-distance trains.

Along with the 24 additional RPF personnel at each of the three stations—Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), and Kalyan. Also, an additional 140 RPF personnel and 250 GRP personnel will be stationed at Dadar on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a release.

Extra commercial workers would be stationed at 40 locations—20 at CSMT, 10 at Kalyan and 10 at LTT stations—to facilitate public movement.

There will be two additional UTS counters at Dadar and CSMT stations, in addition to additional inquiry desks at Chaityabhoomi. Among other things, the Railways will provide information about special trains and automatically announce when new ones are scheduled. There will be help desks at the Dadar and CSMT stations.

Also, medical professionals and paramedics will be on duty at the CSMT, Dadar, Kalyan, and Thane stations. Drinking water availability, urinal maintenance, and staff availability will all be there.

Additional temporary restrooms and urinals have also been installed at the Dadar railway station.
