As the Omicron cases rise in the state, the government takes the responsibility a notch up. The state announces new guidelines on Friday night addressing ‘Night Curfew’. Cases of this variant recorded their sharpest climb in almost two months. The limits were imposed on the same day that Mumbai reported 683 new COVID-19 cases. This figure was recorded to be the most since October 6. While Maharashtra announced 1,410 new cases, most since October 27. A total of 1,63,553 overseas visitors have arrived in Mumbai since 1st December 2021. It includes 23,933 from ‘at-risk’ nations
Guidelines for Social Gatherings amid Omicron Scare
The Maharashtra government published rules on Thursday prohibiting major Christmas parties. The recommendations require basic Christmas festivities that adhere to Covid-19 regulations. It is advised to the residents to limit crowding both inside and outside religious buildings. The standards state that churches can only allow up to 50% of their capacity for midnight on December 25. Proper sanitization facilities are required.
Indoor weddings can have no more than 100 guests and outdoor weddings can have no more than 250, according to the new criteria. The state’s gyms, spas, hotels, theatres, and movie halls may only accommodate 50% of their full capacity.

Rising Number of Cases in Maharashtra
Maharashtra reported 23 new instances of the Omicron strain of Covid-19. The state’s total has come down to 88 which is the most in India. 13 of the 23 new cases are from the Pune district, with 3 from Pune city, 3 from Pune Rural, and 7 from Pimpri-Chinchwad.
This is followed by 11 new cases were registered from Mumbai,2 from Satara and 1 from Ahmednagar. 15 of the new patients have a history of foreign travel. One patient of the group has a history of domestic travel, and 4 others have had intimate contact with them. One patient is under the age of 18, while six are beyond the age of 60. Every new patient is asymptomatic.

12 of these individuals were completely vaccinated, seven were unvaccinated, and 1 was not eligible for vaccination(being below 18). The National Institute of Virology reported 14 instances. Whereas the Indian Institute of Science, Education, and Research in Pune reported the rest.
