Owning to the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic, making a travel plan isn’t easy now. Before planning our travel, we need to take into account several factors like the quarantine rules at the destination, COVID test requirements, e-pass requirements, etc. Also, many destinations are now allowing entry to only certain categories of travellers. To make things easier for you,  we’ve listed down the latest travel rules of Indian states and popular international destinations. While this can serve as a smart guideline for planning your travel, you must always check the official websites prior to travelling, as rules keep changing almost every day.

  • International Travel Guidelines

Andaman and Nicobar Islands Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • RT-PCR test report needed (from ICMR-approved labs); to be done within 48 hours of departure.
  • Passengers will also have to undergo Rapid Antigen Test upon landing at the Port Blair Airport in Andaman and Nicobar islands.
  • Those testing positive will be sent to a free-of-cost institutional quarantine centre. Passengers can also opt to stay at the identified hotels of their choice and pay for it.
  • Home quarantine for 7 days is mandatory in Andaman for everyone, even for those who test negative.
  • Those proceeding to Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, and little Andaman will have to undergo a 10-days mandatory home quarantine.
  • Visitors failing to follow the guidelines can be fined up to ₹5,000 for each violation.
  • Passengers must download Aarogya Setu App.

Andhra Pradesh Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • COVID-negative certificate is not mandatory for interstate/intrastate travel.
  • Passengers must download Aarogya Setu App.
  • A lockdown is in effect in the state
  • ₹100 fine will be imposed on mask violators
  • Registration on Spandana website is mandatory.
  • E-passes are required.
  • Passengers arriving via flight need to undergo thermal screening.

Assam Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download Aarogya Setu App.
  • Passengers arriving by flight need to undergo thermal screening.
  • Passengers arriving at Assam airports need to undergo RAT test upon arrival free of cost.  Fully vaccinated passengers can skip the test. Passengers testing positive need to undergo home isolation or get admitted in a private hospital or Government Health Institution depending on his/her medical condition. If the test result of the RAT test is negative, the passenger will have to undergo RT-PCR(self-paid) at the airport itself. If the RT-PCR result is positive, they must undergo home isolation or get admitted in a private hospital/ government institution, depending on their medical condition. If the RT-PCR is negative, they can continue normal activities as long as they follow all COVID-19 safety protocols.
  • 7 days of home quarantine is mandatory for all passengers, irrespective of their test report.
  • Residents of North-Eastern states other than Assam, who are arriving at any airport in Assam from outside the state and are travelling directly to any other North-Eastern state can skip the on-arrival tests if they are asymptomatic.
  • Government officials and those travelling due to medical reasons and family loss shall be exempted from mandatory quarantine
  • Interstate bus travel via road is not allowed yet in Assam.

Bihar Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers need to download the Aarogya Setu App.
  • A lockdown is in effect at the moment.
  • People travelling from/to airports, railway stations, bus terminals will be allowed to travel without any e-Pass.
  • Vehicles authorised by district administration with e-passes are allowed. Any other inter-state and intra-state movement of passenger vehicles is allowed.
  • Passengers arriving by flight need to undergo thermal screening.
  • Passengers arriving from Delhi-NCR, Kerala, Maharashtra and Punjab to Darbhanga must carry a negative RT-PCR test report issued within 72 hours before arrival. Passengers without the report will be denied boarding.
  • People arriving from other states to Bihar do not need RT-PCR test reports.
  • There is a mandatory 10 days quarantine for passengers arriving from Delhi & NCR, Maharashtra, Kerala & Punjab to Darbhanga only.
  • For travel via road, passengers need to show a negative RT-PCR test report or full vaccination certificate.

Chandigarh Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers need to download the Aarogya Setu App.
  • Incoming passengers need to fill in contact tracing and Health Declaration forms on arrival.
  • They must register on the COVA Punjab App before starting their journey.
  • Passengers arriving by flight need to undergo thermal screening.
  • RT-PCR test report is not mandatory to enter Chandigarh.
  • No RT-PCR report need to enter Chandigarh via road.

Chhattisgarh Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers need to download the Aarogya Setu App.
  • Passengers arriving by flight need to undergo thermal screening.
  • People travelling to Chhattisgarh are advised to carry an RT-PCR negative report not earlier than 96 hrs (RT-PCR timeline starts from the swab collection time) or a Full vaccination COVID certificate.
  • Children below the age of 12 years are exempted from pre-departure RT-PCR and on arrival test.
  • Asymptomatic domestic travellers do not need to undergo quarantine.
  • No restriction on interstate travel via road

Delhi Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download and install the Aarogya Setu App.
  • Passengers arriving at the airport might have to go undergo thermal screening upon arrival.
  • Passengers arriving at the Delhi airport via domestic flights will have to undergo random COVID testing by the authorities. They will be allowed to exit the airport after sample collection. Those found positive must quarantine at home or hospital for 10 days.
  • RT-PCR test report is not required to enter Delhi.
  • Those travelling to Delhi by road must have an e-pass to be downloaded from epass.jantasamvad.org.
  • No standing passengers will be allowed in buses.

Goa Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download and install the Aarogya Setu App.
  • A lockdown is in effect in the state, but with relaxations. Bars and restaurants in the state can operate with 50% seating capacity from 7 AM to 9 PM. Gyms can operate in Goa with 50% capacity. Sports complexes will be allowed to open, but without spectators. Religious places can also open with up to 15 people.
  • All passengers travelling to Goa must carry a negative RT-PCR certificate, not older than 72 hours before arrival. RT-PCR timeline begins from the swab collection time. Passengers without the RT-PCR test report might not be allowed to board the flights.
  • The state will not permit the entry of fully vaccinated tourists without a COVID-negative certificate. The high court of Bombay at Goa has however stated that no COVID-negative certificate would be needed for the fully-vaccinated people coming to Goa for work and business purposes and for Goan citizens returning home. The latest order has stated that the state will have to evolve a suitable mechanism to make sure that the benefit of the exemptions is provided to only the exempted categories and not to others.
  • For travel via road, a full vaccination certificate or an RT-PCR negative report ( test not to be older than 72 hours before entering Goa) is compulsory.

Gujarat Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the Aarogya Setu App.
  • International and domestic travellers arriving in Surat must fill in the ‘Novel Corona Self-reporting Form’ online and download the ‘SMC COVID-19 Tracker’ app. For more travel related information on Surat, click here.
  • Passengers travelling to Surat must carry a negative RT-PCR test, with sample taken within 72 hours. RT-PCR timeline begins from the swab collection time. Passengers might not be allowed to board their flights without the report. RT-PCR test is not required in other airports.
  • Children below the age of 12 years will be exempted from the RT-PCR test.
  • Passengers arriving at Ahmedabad airport who exhibit symptoms during thermal screening must undergo a self-paid RT-PCR test on arrival.
  • Travellers from Maharashtra and Gujarat to Diu must carry a negative COVID-19 test report, with sample taken within 72 hours before hotel check-in.
  • Travellers coming from neighbouring states (including Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh) by road will be screened at border posts.

Haryana Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the Aarogya Setu App.
  • A lockdown is in effect at the moment.
  • E-pass is required for travel via road, train as well as flight. To download the e-pass, click here.  Haryana is allowing only essential travel. The e-pass has to be shared with the driver before the trip starts.
  • In sedan vehicles, 2 passengers and 1 driver will be allowed.
  • In SUVs, 3 passengers + 1 driver will be allowed.

Himachal Pradesh Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the Aarogya Setu app.
  • Kibber village and Kibber wildlife sanctuary) in Lahaul & Spiti is shut for tourists at present.
  • Those travelling to Himachal by air, bus or railways must register on the e-pass portal of the Himachal Pradesh government before starting the journey. They must also carry the acknowledgement receipt of the same.
  • Travellers with valid e-pass or train or flight tickets are permitted to travel during lockdown.
    Anyone booking a cab to or from the airport or railway station must share a copy of their valid air/rail e-ticket with their driver before the trip starts. Without this, the driver will not be able to reach the pickup location.
  • In sedan vehicles, 2 passengers and 1 driver will be allowed.
  • In SUVs, 3 passengers + 1 driver will be allowed.
  • No RT-PCR report will be needed to enter Himachal.
  • There is no quarantine requirement for domestic passengers.
    In Shimla, only senior citizens will be permitted to sit on the Ridge and pavements along the Mall Road.
  • Police deployed at various spots will ban and fine maskless tourists.
  •  If Shimla’s Mall Road and Ridge have more tourists than the capacity, then their entry can be banned.
  • Mask violators in Manali need to face a fine of ₹5000 or 8 days of imprisonment as punishment.

Jammu & Kashmir Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the Aarogya Setu app on their phones.
  • Travellers need to add a valid phone number to the Aarogya Setu app, where they can be contacted at any time.
  • Passengers need to fill up the ICMR Health form on arrival.
  • Some lockdown restrictions are in place in the union territory.
  • Travellers arriving in Srinagar and Jammu need to have a negative RT-PCR report of not earlier than 72 hours from an ICMR approved laboratory. Defence Personnel arriving to join duty are exempted from the test.
  • Travellers coming to Kashmir by road need to undergo a COVID test on arrival.

Jharkhand Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • Travellers need to self-monitor their health conditions for two weeks.
  • For inter-district and inter-state movements, e-pass will be required.
  • Registration on the Government of Jharkhand website is mandatory.
  • All passengers arriving to Jharkhand need to carry an RT-PCR/TRUENAT negative report from ICMR approved lab not earlier than 72 hours.
  • All Passengers must undergo mandatory 7-day home quarantine upon arrival, excepting airline personnel, people transiting through Jharkhand for inter-state movements, government officials on duty, passengers having return tickets within 72 hours of arrival in Jharkhand and passengers travel interstate daily for mining/industrial/agriculture/healthcare-related activities.
  • A lockdown is in effect at the moment.
  • All travellers entering Jharkhand need to undergo thermal screening. Thermal screening is a mandatory for those entering the state from Maharashtra, Kerala and Telangana.
  • Symptomatic passengers need to undergo RT-PCR/TRUENAT and if found positive will be asked for home isolation.

Karnataka Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • Passengers arriving from Maharashtra and Kerala via air, road or train must carry a negative RT-PCR test issued within 72 hours from an ICMR approved lab or vaccination certificate with at least one dose of vaccine. RT-PCR timeline starts from the swab collection time. Passengers might not be allowed to board their flights without a valid RT-PCR test report or a valid vaccination certificate.
  • Passengers arriving from other states do not need RT-PCR test reports.
  • All passengers will have to undergo thermal screening.
  • There is a night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am, No vehicles will be allowed to move during these hours.

Kerala Covid-19 travel guidelines (e-Pass Mandatory)

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • All travellers must register on the COVID-19 Jagratha website to obtain an e-pass.
  • Passengers must carry a negative RT-PCR test issued within 72 hours before entry to the state or must take one immediately after entering the state. RT-PCR timeline starts from the swab collection time.
  • Those visiting Kerala for a short period must carry a negative RT-PCR test report issued within 48 hours before arrival. They must also take an entry pass for a short visit from the COVID Jagratha portal.
  • Passengers who need to visit any other state or UT after entering Kerala must have an entry pass for Kerala and also the state or UT.
  • A lockdown is in effect.
    Passengers will have to undergo compulsory thermal screening on arrival.
  • Passengers arriving in Calicut must undergo a test on arrival and remain on home or institutional quarantine until the test result arrives. Also, the transportation from the airport to the quarantine facility/home quarantine will be in double-chambered vehicles.
  • Those arriving at Kerala via road must carry a negative RT-PCR certificate not less than 72 hours or a vaccination certificate with at least one dose of vaccine taken.

Ladakh Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • Passengers entering Ladakh must carry a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test report not older than 72 hours. RT-PCR timeline starts from the swab collection time.

Madhya Pradesh Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • Travellers entering Indore must install the Indore 311 App and self-register themselves before arrival. They must consistently update their health status for 14 days.
  • Passengers arriving from Maharashtra to Indore need to carry a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test report, conducted within 48 hours before arrival. Those travelling without a report must take a self-paid test on arrival at the airport and self-isolate till the result is out.
  • Passengers arriving from Maharashtra to Bhopal need to carry a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test report, conducted within 72 hours before arrival. Symptomatic passengers must take a self-paid test on arrival at the airport and undergo institutional quarantine till the result arrives.
  • RT-PCR test is not required for passengers travelling from other states.
  • Lockdown has been lifted, but there are some restrictions.
  • Passengers need to undergo thermal screening.
  • All symptomatic passengers must undergo a COVID test on arrival and stay under institutional quarantine till the test result arrives. If the result comes positive, passengers will be sent to COVID Care Centre where they will need to undergo a re-test followed by Home Quarantine as advised by the competent authorities. If the result is negative, further institutional or home quarantine is not required.
  • People travelling for a short business trip of less than 3 days do not have to quarantine. They must submit their contact details and other travel details to the officials at the airport.

Manipur Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • All travellers arriving by air or road must carry a negative COVID test report (either RT-PCR/TRUENAT/CB-NAAT) with them. Sample collection must be done within 72 hours before travel. Alternatively, they can carry a full vaccination certificate, received after taking both doses of vaccine. Passengers might not be allowed to board the flights if they are without either of these documents.
  • Passengers originating from Manipur travelling in an emergency situation do not need to carry a COVID-19 negative report at the time of entry as a special case. But they will have to undergo testing upon arrival. This will only be allowed with prior information of such emergency travel communicated to the COVID Control Room helpline number 1800-345- 3818 for necessary arrangements to be made.
  • All passengers need to undergo thermal screening.
  • Lockdown has been lifted, but there are some restrictions.

Maharashtra Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • All passengers need to carry a negative RT-PCR test, with samples not older than 72 hours before travel. RT-PCR timeline starts from the swab collection time. Travellers can also carry a full COVID-19 vaccination certificate, received on taking both doses of the vaccine, after completing 15 days from receiving the 2nd dose. Passengers might not be allowed to board the flights without either of these documents.
  • Lockdown has been lifted, but some restrictions are in place.
  • All passengers need to undergo thermal screening.
  • For those travelling within Maharashtra, RT-PCR test will not be required for flying from one Maharashtra airport to another.
  • For those travelling via road to Maharashtra, an RT-PCR report of the test taken within 48 hours before entering Maharashtra is mandatory.

Meghalaya Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • A lockdown is in effect at the moment. Meghalaya is closed at present for tourists arriving from outside the state. For more information related to Meghalaya travel, click here.
  • Visitors (excluding tourists) to the state must register on the Meghalaya state portal and generate an e-invite. For more registration details, click here.
  • Those who do not have home quarantine facilities must pre-book their hotels before registering.
  • Passengers must undergo RT-PCR tests at their own cost on arrival. Or they can carry a full vaccination certificate, after receiving both doses of vaccine. For those coming from Maharashtra/Delhi/UP/Bihar/West Bengal/Karnataka and Kerala, RT-PCR tests need to be done on arrival even if they have full vaccination certificates.  Sample for RT-PCR testing will be taken at the entry point (self–paid). Passengers need to proceed to their residences/hotels or any place of stay and need to stay in quarantine until the test results arrive.
  • Essential service providers to the state as certified by Home (Political) Department, Government of Meghalaya shall be exempted from testing on arrival on the production of RAT negative certificate issued within 48 hours from arrival into the state from an ICMR recognised laboratory. Alternatively, they can produce a final vaccination certificate of both doses of vaccine received.
  • Symptomatic travellers even with a COVID Negative report will have to undergo testing at the Entry Points as per the protocols of the Health and Family Welfare Department.
  • All passengers undergoing RT-PCR test on arrival must undergo 7 days home or paid quarantine as designated by the authorities on arrival irrespective of their result.

Mizoram Covid-19 travel guidelines (m-Pass Mandatory)

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • All passengers entering the state via flight, road or any other means of transport must apply for a valid m-Pass on the Mizoram Government website.
  • Travellers with or without negative COVID-19 report will have to undergo a mandatory Rapid Antigen Test upon arrival.
  • Those travelling to Mizoram via road also need to carry negative RT-PCR test reports.
  • All passengers must undergo thermal screening and a mandatory 10 day home or institutional quarantine even if the Rapid Antigen Test is negative.
  • After the completion of the 10 day quarantine period, passengers will need to undergo RT-PCR/TrueNAT test
  • Those visiting Mizoram for a short period (up to 96 hours) need not self-isolate if they produce a negative RT-PCR report not older than 72 hours before arrival and a valid return ticket.
  • Children of  1 year of age and below are exempted from the test.
  • Public transport buses are permitted to operate in the state from Monday to Saturday.

Nagaland Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the Aarogya Setu app.
  • All travellers visiting Nagaland via flight, road or any other means of transport must download the COVID-19 Nagaland App and submit their health and contact details.
  • Passengers must submit self-declaration for home quarantine through the nCOVID Nagaland Visitors App or website or by WhatsApp to helpline no. 7630877991.
  • Travellers must carry RT-PCR/TrueNAT/CBNAAT negative reports, not older than 72 hours before arrival. Alternatively, they can carry a Full vaccination Certificate, received after taking both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.  RT-PCR timeline begins from the swab collection time. Passengers without either of these documents might not be allowed to board their flights.
  • Some lockdown restrictions are in the state.
  • All travellers must undergo thermal screening.
  • All passengers entering Nagaland need to undergo 7 days of home or paid institutional quarantine.
  • Residents of any of the North Eastern States other than Nagaland transiting or directly travelling to any other North Eastern State need to compulsorily abide by the above-mentioned guidelines, and also follow arrival guidelines of their final destination.

Odisha Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the Aarogya Setu app.
  • In sedan vehicles, 2+1 passengers will be allowed.
  • In SUVs, 3+1 passengers will be allowed.
  • A lockdown is in effect at the moment.
  • Travellers entering Odisha must register on the COVID-19 Odisha State Portal.
  • Passengers arriving in Odisha via flight, road or any other means of transport must carry a negative RAT/RT-PCR test report and the sample should be collected within 48 hours before arrival. RT-PCR timeline starts from swab collection time.
  • Interstate public transport by buses has been suspended till 6 AM of August 1, 2021.
  • A night curfew is in effect from 8 pm to 6 am.

Punjab Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • Passengers must register on COVA Punjab App prior to starting their journey.
  • Lockdown has been lifted, but there are some restrictions.
  • All passengers need to undergo thermal screening.
  • Buses, taxis and auto-rickshaws can operate with 50% capacity.
  • For those arriving in Punjab by flights, it is mandatory to carry a negative RT-PCR report of not older than 72 hours or a Vaccination certificate of at least one dose over 2 weeks old.
  • No restrictions are there for inter-state road travel.
  • People travelling by train do not require RT-PCR test reports, but must undergo health screening before boarding the train and stay in 14-day quarantine upon arrival.

Rajasthan Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the Aarogya Setu app.
  • They must submit a Self-Health Declaration form on arrival.
  • All passengers must carry a COVID-19 RT-PCR negative test report from an ICMR approved lab, conducted within 72 hours before arrival or a vaccination certificate with at least one dose of the vaccine. RT-PCR timeline starts from the swab collection time. Government officials holding constitutional positions, defence personnel and medical support team shall be exempted from pre-departure RT-PCR but need to undergo 15 days home quarantine after arriving in Rajasthan.
  • Those travelling to Udaipur need to upload a copy of their RT-PCR negative report on E-mitra Portal.
  • Those booking hotels in Udaipur need to produce a negative RT-PCR test report. They also need to upload a copy of their RT-PCR negative report on E-mitra Portal.
  • Some lockdown restrictions are in effect at the moment.
  • All passengers must undergo thermal screening.

Tamil Nadu Covid-19 travel guidelines (e-Pass Mandatory)

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • A lockdown is in effect at the moment.
  • All passengers arriving in Tamil Nadu must register for an e-pass (except those coming from Puducherry) by clicking here. The e-pass has to be shown while boarding flights.
  • The Nilgiris, Yercaud and Kodaikanal regions are closed for tourists now.
  • The Tamil Nadu government has mandated an RT-PCR test report or a certificate of full vaccination for people arriving in the state from Kerala via all modes of transport, to be effective from August 5, 2021.
  • Passengers travelling from Kerala and Maharashtra who are symptomatic need to undergo a COVID-19 test on arrival.
  • If the symptomatic passengers from Kerala and Maharashtra are found to be virus-positive, they will have to undergo hospital isolation and treatment protocols. If the test is negative, they must undergo home quarantine for 7 days and self-monitor for another 7 days.
  • Passengers from other states do not need RT-PCR test except those travelling to Coimbatore airport.  But they must self-monitor their health for 14 days. Symptomatic travellers need to undergo institutional quarantine till  COVID test results arrive. They need to complete the remaining period of home quarantine.
  • All arriving passengers at Coimbatore airport (except those travelling within Tamil Nadu) must carry a negative RT-PCR test report, conducted within 72 hours before the time of departure or take a test (free of cost) on arrival. RT-PCR timeline starts from the swab collection time.
  • Business travellers coming to the state for a short stay of 72 hours will be exempted from home quarantine norms with a valid return document. This is not applicable for passengers arriving at Coimbatore and for travellers arriving from Maharashtra or Kerala.

Telangana Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • No RT-PCR report is required to enter Telangana.
  • All passengers will have to undergo thermal screening.
  • The state has lifted all lockdown restrictions and is fully open for travel. But wearing face masks remains compulsory in public places and in any means of transport.

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • Travellers entering the state must carry an RT-PCR/TRUENAT/CB-NAAT negative report from an ICMR approved lab not earlier than 72 hours. RT-PCR timeline begins from the swab collection time.
  • Symptomatic passengers need to undergo a quarantine of 14 days. Asymptomatic domestic passengers are exempted from quarantine.
  • A lockdown is in effect at the moment.

Uttarakhand Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.

Uttar Pradesh Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the Aarogya Setu app.
  • All air travellers must register to the Government of Uttar Pradesh portal.
  • Travellers must go through thermal screening.
  • Passengers coming to Lucknow must carry a negative RT-PCR report with samples taken within 72 hours before arrival.
  • For other airports in Uttar Pradesh,  passengers arriving only from Kerala and Maharashtra need to carry a negative RT-PCR report with samples taken within 72 hours before arrival.
  • Passengers arriving at Agra must undergo a test on arrival, even those who are carrying a negative RT-PCR test.
  • All passengers mandatorily need to undergo 14 days of quarantine.
  • Travellers who are to leave Uttar Pradesh within 7 days of arrival shall be exempted from mandatory quarantine only with valid return tickets.

West Bengal Covid-19 travel guidelines

  • Passengers must download the updated version of the Aarogya Setu app.
  • Download the Sandhane App and fill up the declaration form.
  • A lockdown is in effect.
  • Trains are not operating at the moment, except on special permissions.
  • Kolkata Airport has notified that from August 8, 2021, passengers coming from Pune, Mumbai and Chennai need to mandatorily carry RT-PCR negative reports with them not older than 72 hours from the flight departure. Travellers coming from all other states need to either carry an RT-PCR test report or a certificate of full vaccination. RT-PCR timeline starts from the swab collection time.
  • Children below 2 years of age will be exempted from the RT-PCR report requirement.

Covid-19 guidelines for Indians travelling to Canada

  •  Passengers from India can travel to Canada via indirect routes.
  •  They will need to obtain a pre-departure negative Covid-19 molecular test result from a third country before they get on a flight to Canada.
  • Currently, fully vaccinated citizens, and permanent residents are not required to observe the mandatory quarantine period.  The same rule also applied to workers with valid work permits, international students, and relatives of permanent residents.
  • Only vaccines approved by the Government of Canada will be accepted that includes the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Astra Zeneca/Covishield, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Canada has not approved Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Russia’s Sputnik V yet.
  • Those who have not taken the vaccine will have to complete the three-day quarantine at a hotel while awaiting the results of their tests. They will also have to undergo a second test on day eight of their arrival as well as complete the 14-day isolation period.
  • Vaccinated passengers will be allowed to skip the mandatory three-day institutional quarantine. You must upload your vaccination status on the Canadian government’s ArriveCan app before arriving in Canada.

Covid-19 guidelines for Indians travelling to the US

  • Passengers with only select visa categories are allowed to travel to the United States now.  Lawful US permanent residents, their spouses, parents and siblings (provided the child/sibling is unmarried and less than 21 years of age), students starting their study programme from August 1, 2021, certain academics and journalists can travel. Also, US citizens, permanent residents and their spouses can travel to the US.
  • Passengers must have a COVID negative report with test conducted 3 days before departure or medical proof of COVID recovery. It is mandatory for all passengers to carry COVID test reports which have a QR code on them that can be scanned at the airport.
  • Indians will have to undergo home quarantine for 7 days if they get an on-arrival test within 3-5 days of arrival. Those who do not get an on-arrival test need to undergo home quarantine for 10 days.

Covid-19 guidelines for Indians travelling to UK

  • India is on UK’s red list. As of now, visas have been put on hold. But even if you have a long-term travel visa to the UK, you cannot take a direct flight to the UK. You must first fly to a country that is on UK’s green list ( say Iceland) and stay in the transit country for at least ten days before you take your flight to the UK.
  • The countries in UK’s green list include Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Iceland, Israel and Jerusalem, New Zealand, Singapore. South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, St Helena, Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha. Iceland has eased restrictions for fully vaccinated travellers. Travellers carrying vaccination certificates will not be tested upon entry. Children born after 2005 will not have to show a negative COVID 19 test report. However, the vaccine you have taken must be approved by the European Medicines Agency.
  • The flight options and routes to the UK are limited. The UK has categorised countries in three different lists that have a different set of norms and restrictions.
  • Green list: If you are travelling via green list country you must take a COVID-19 test two days before arrival.
  • Amber list – If you are taking a flight via a country which falls in the amber list, you must quarantine in the country you are travelling to and take two COVID-19 tests.
  • Red list – If you are travelling via a ‘red list’ country you must quarantine in a hotel and take two COVID-19 tests. That said, you cannot enter the UK if you’ve been in or travelling via a red list country unless you’re British, Irish or you have the right to live in the UK. The exemptions include students as well as skilled labour.

  • Travellers must fill a Passenger Locator Form online.
  • Travellers carry a negative COVID RT-PCR test report with QR code, conducted within 72 hours before travel. Upon arrival, they must take 2 COVID tests. The payment for these tests has to be done before travelling.
  • Those eligible to travel from India must stay in a managed quarantine hotel for 10 days.
  • London’s Heathrow Airport has opened a dedicated new terminal for arrivals from ‘red list’ countries. Travellers arriving from such destinations will be directly moved to a government-approved quarantine facility booked at the passengers’ own expense. That said, it is nearly impossible to enter the UK right now.

Covid-19 guidelines for Indians travelling to the Maldives

  • The Maldives has reopened to South Asian countries from July 15, 2021.
  • People travelling to the Maldives from South Asian countries from July 15 need to carry a negative COVID-19 PCR test report before entry to the island nation. All tourists including those who received vaccinations must have a Covid negative test result with a sample taken within 96 hours before departure to the Maldives, from the first port en route to the Maldives. Children below one year of age are exempted from this requirement.
  • It’s compulsory to fill health declaration form on the Maldives immigration portal 24 hours prior to departure.
  • Indian nationals will get a visa on arrival on a valid passport with confirmed return flight tickets and hotel.
  • There is no mandatory quarantine on arrival for Indian tourists.
  • Visitors from South Asian countries are banned from check-in or staying at tourist facilities in inhabited islands until July 30, 2021.
  • IndiGo and Go First have already announced flights to Malé from four Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru & Kochi.
  • Air India will launch non-stop flights between Mumbai and Male from July 28, 2021, to operate every Wednesday and Saturday.

Covid-19 guidelines for Indians travelling to Germany

  • Germany lifted a ban on travellers from India, the UK, and three other countries, where the Delta variant of coronavirus has been found in the samples of Covid-19 patients. Travellers from ‘high-incidence areas’ will be allowed to enter Germany only if they produce a negative test report and quarantine on arrival for 10 days.
  • Covishield will be accepted and travel can only happen after 14 days since the last dose.
  •  Travel to Germany is open for certain unvaccinated travellers from India. These include business travellers, healthcare professionals, students, IT professionals, researchers, skilled & highly qualified workers, scientists, transport personnel, exhibitors, trade fair visitors, participants of a congress/conference; seamen; sportspersons/ officials for international sports events, competition, tournament; diplomats and their immediate family members; those seeking medical care; anyone with an official letter issued by a German mission confirming urgent travel needs; immediate family members of German nationals/residents; those marrying a national residing in Germany; those travelling for urgent needs like birth, funeral, serious illness, wedding; unmarried couples/live-in registered partner living in Germany.
  • Passengers must fill the German ‘Digital Entry Registration’ form online. Vaccinated travellers must carry either a digital or paper version of their official vaccination certificate.
  • No RT-PCR test or quarantine is required for fully vaccinated travellers.
  • Proof of hotel stay is recommended.
  • Unvaccinated travellers must carry a negative COVID test during flight. The sample given must not be older than 24 hours for Antigen tests and 72 hours for RT-PCR.
  • Unvaccinated travellers must undergo 10 days of quarantine. However, if they get a test done on day 5 of quarantine and it is negative, they can exit quarantine. For more details, click here.

Covid-19 guidelines for Indians travelling to the UAE

  • Dubai is open for all UAE nationals irrespective of vaccination status and for those with UAE residency visas who have received both shots of a UAE-approved vaccine ( AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sputnik V). Travel to the rest of the UAE is open for UAE nationals, diplomatic passport holders, official delegations and holders of UAE golden visas can travel.
  • Indian nationals, except those who fall in the categories mentioned above, currently do not have permission to enter UAE.
  • Passengers must download DXB Smart App (for Dubai) and AL HOSN app (for Sharjah and Abu Dhabi). UAE residency visa holders travelling to Dubai must carry a valid vaccination certificate.
  • It is compulsory to download and submit a Health Declaration Form here and here and a Quarantine Undertaking Form while entering UAE.
  • Eligible travellers to Dubai (except UAE citizens) must carry a negative COVID-19 PCR test report with QR code conducted within 48 hours before departure. They must also take a rapid PCR test 4 hours prior to the flight departure. They must take another test on arrival at Dubai airport.
  • Those eligible to enter Sharjah and Abu Dhabi must carry a negative COVID-19 PCR test report with QR code conducted within 48 hours before departure. Non-vaccinated travellers must also take a test on arrival at the airport, another test on day 4 and a third test on day 8 after arrival. Vaccinated travellers must take a test on arrival at the airport, quarantine for 5 days and take another test on day 4.
  • Indians arriving in Dubai (except UAE citizens and diplomats) must quarantine at an institution till their PCR test result is out. This usually takes around 24 hours.
  • Non-vaccinated travellers from India arriving in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi must quarantine for 10 days, provided their on-arrival test result is negative. Vaccinated travellers from India must take a test on arrival, quarantine for 5 days and take another test on day 4.
