Veteran actor Achyut Potdar, famous for his “Kehna kya chahte ho” dialogue from the cult classic “3 Idiots”, passed away at the age of 91. While the cause of death has not been revealed, it has been reported that he has not been keeping well for some time due to age-related health issues. He was undergoing treatment in Thane and passed away at Jupiter Hospital on August 18.
Veteran Actor Achyut Potdar Passes Away
The news of Achyut Potdar’s demise has left millions of cinema lovers and the film industry heartbroken. The beloved actor passed away at 91, surrounded by close family and well-wishers. According to Hindustan Times, he hasn’t been keeping well for a while. His last rites will take place on August 19 in Thane.
The official Instagram handle of Marathi channel Star Pravah confirmed the news and shared a post with a caption (translated from Marathi), “A heartfelt tribute to senior actor Achyut Potdar… His smile, simplicity and honesty in every role will always be remembered.”

Won Millions Of Hearts With His Talent
In a career spanning over four decades, Achyut Potdar acted in more than 125 Hindi and Marathi films and in over 100 TV serials. He entered the entertainment industry at the age of 44. Before that, he worked in the Indian Armed Forces and the Indian Oil Company.
While his short, albeit memorable role in 3 Idiots is a fan favourite, he has acted in many famous movies, including Tezaab, Parinda, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Dilwale, Rangeela, Ishq, Vaastav, Aa Ab Laut Chalen, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Parineeta, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, and Dabangg 2.
