When he’s not cracking up the crowds, comedian Maheep Singh is busy devouring hearty Punjabi dishes and sabudana popcorn. So, when he joined our anchor, Tonakshi Kalra, for this episode of Tere Gully Mein, the two went straight into foodie mode at his favourite Cafe Lota. Tonakshi, a proud Punjabi and self-proclaimed foodie, couldn’t stop gushing about their shared Punjabi roots and mutual love for devouring huge quantities of food. But he begged to differ! Maheep Singh playfully reminded Tonakshi that everyone in India loves food, not just Punjabis! Scroll down for his opinion on food.
Maheep Singh Believes That Every Nook And Corner Of India Loves Food
Comedian Maheep Singh gave Tonakshi and us a free show of his funny personality in this episode. Proud Delhite Tonakshi Kalra shocked Maheep when she told him that she’s a Punjabi too. She also told the comedian that her relatives think Punjabis are the biggest food hoggers!
But the comedian was ready with his reality check in hand! He said, “Everyone in India loves to eat food. Bollywood movies have fueled the stereotype that Punjabis eat a lot. While to some extent it is true, every nook and corner of India loves food.” We can’t speak for you but food always comes first for us!
Maheep believes that every Indian get-together, even the birth or death of a person, involves food. Well, he also made it abundantly clear that being a Punjabi, Maheep Singh loves food over anything else! Can we say that we are not surprised?

How Was Maheep Singh Like As A Child?
One look at the comedian and most of us would assume that he was a naughty and funny kid in childhood. But you would be surprised to know that the comedian was quite a nerd during his time! He says, “I was short in height, nerdy, and thin. I always used to top the class!”
The comedian shared that because he was a nerd, he was bullied by his peers. During this time, he found a safe space in stand-up comedy and witty jokes. Maheep credited comedy for helping him overcome bullying and hatred. We are so proud of where the comedian is right now!
