On this fun episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani visited the talented beauty from Kerala, Malavika Mohanan. We visited her Mumbai home and relished lip-smacking Malayali food that was lovingly prepared at her place. From Meen Curry to Kerala Brown Rice, we relished it all! We also spoke to Malavika about her illustrious acting career, her Malayali roots and more! She turned out to be truly one of the most fascinating people to talk to!
Malavika Mohanan Believes Traditional Food Must Be Preserved
While speaking to Malavika Mohanan, we touched on the subject of food and its importance in any culture. Malavika talked about the significance of the dishes she served to Kamiya and said that the sambar on the table was a special recipe.
She said that the sambar was thicker than the ones found at restaurants. This is because the recipe was given to her mother by a cook in Kerala who served at weddings. The recipe itself is quite old and was passed down from generation to generation.
The fact that her mother stumbled upon it was quite special. Malavika then talked about how important it is to preserve traditional food and culture. She specifically mentioned that it has to be done intentionally and mindfully or else, it will just fade away and one’s culture will be forgotten.
Her Experience Of Working With Megastar Rajnikanth
While chit-chatting about her career, she revealed her experience of working with the megastar Rajnikanth. Malavika praised the humility with which the megastar conducted himself. He even called and congratulated Malavika when her next film came out!
