An incident that is now receiving international coverage highlights arbitrary and discriminatory policies of airlines and how women’s bodies and the clothes they wear are still policed. A male flight attendant of Spirit Airlines kicked two Californian women off a flight for wearing crop tops. Several videos and pictures from the incident are now going viral across all popular social media platforms. Two Women Get Kicked Off Spirit Airlines For Wearing Crop Tops
Tara and Teresa, two women from California, were kicked off a flight for wearing crop tops. The plane was from New Orleans to Los Angeles. They shared pictures and videos of what they wore — white crop tops with cardigans.
However, a male flight attendant on the flight took issue with the women’s dressing. When the two women were asked to leave, a number of other passengers objected to it. A woman on the row in front of them protested. She was with a toddler and was wearing a crop top under her sweatshirt.
She took it off and asked whether they would kick her off as well. And lo and behold, they did. After much kerfuffle, a supervisor came and said that she did not find their outfit objectionable but the one male attendant did and so, they would have to deboard.

Male Flight Attendant Took Issue With The Women’s Outfits
The supervisor also promised to rebook their flight however; when they got off the plane, she said that there were no flights available and even refused a refund. The two women therefore had to spend another $1,000 to book another flight.
As per a Times Of India or TOI article, Spirit Airlines is investigating the matter. In a statement cited in the article, they mention that there is a dress code to be followed by passengers on their flights. However, many people have claimed that their dress code is quite vague.
