A 45-year-old man was arrested by the Chennai Police for allegedly molesting a woman passenger while aboard a Delhi-Chennai IndiGo flight. As per the woman’s claim, the man touched her inappropriately while she was asleep on the flight. Upon landing in Chennai, she filed a case against the man and he was promptly taken away by the police.
Woman Claims 45-YO Man Molested Her On IndiGo Flight
A woman, flying on the Delhi-Chennai IndiGo flight, filed a case of molestation on a fellow male passenger on October 9. As per an India Today report, the 45-year-old man, identified as Rajesh Sharma, inappropriately touched the woman while she was sleeping on the flight. Once the flight landed in Chennai at 4:30 PM, the woman approached IndiGo staff and told them about the entire incident. The staff assisted her in filing a police complaint against the man and he was taken away for further probe.
As per reports, the woman was seated next to the window and the accused was seated behind her on the IndiGo Delhi-Chennai flight. During the flight, the woman fell asleep. However, she was woken up when she felt someone inappropriately touching her. She then became alert and even complained to the cabin crew about the man’s behaviour.
Man Arrested By The Chennai Police
Upon landing in Chennai, the IndiGo staff assisted the woman in filing a complaint against the man at the women’s police station attached to the airport in Meenambakkam. Reportedly, a case was registered against Rajesh under section 75 (sexual harassment) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and he was promptly arrested. According to a Hindustan Times report, the accused belongs to Rajasthan and has been residing in Chennai for a long time.

As of now, no comment or statement has been released by IndiGo on this issue.
