A Japanese girl travelling in an overnight Indian train was inappropriately touched by a man. The young Japanese girl made a video about her harassment experience where she narrated the distressing incident of how she was woken up by a man at 2 AM when he opened the curtains of the compartment she was sleeping in. He then continued to touch her inappropriately while she looked awkward trying to get away from the whole situation.

Japanese Girl Faces Harassment In An Overnight Indian Train

A Japanese girl experienced harassment while travelling on an overnight Indian train recently. She made a video of the entire incident and could be seen awkwardly trying to get away from the man who continued to touch her inappropriately and without consent. The video was shared by X (formerly Twitter) user, @callistoroll.

In the video, the girl explains that she was travelling on an overnight train and fell asleep around 11 PM. However, she was abruptly woken up when a man opened her compartment’s curtain around 2 or 3 AM. Of course, she was shocked and when she sat up, the man started touching her without consent and inappropriately. He can be seen caressing her head and saying things like, “You are so pretty” and “I like you.”

The Japanese girl in the video can be seen laughing awkwardly while the man continues to touch her inappropriately. However, the distress on her face is quite evident throughout the incident.

Foreigners Harassed While Travelling In India

This distressing and concerning harassment situation faced by the Japanese girl isn’t an isolated incident. Several foreign tourists have made videos and reported similar incidents of people touching them inappropriately and without consent, while travelling in India.

A few months back, a foreign vlogger couple, Mackenzie and Keenan, were travelling in Kerala. While they were there, a man forcefully tried to hug and kiss the woman while she uncomfortably tried to refute his advances. On the same night, a man tried to grope and sexually assault Keenan but he was able to push away their forceful hands. And these are just a few of the many incidents that are reported every day.

Now before we get attacked for being “anti-national” or reporting an incident that does not bring India into a good light, we’d like to remind you that this situation makes us want to call out the hypocrisy of the people in our country. This entire incident is horrifying and makes us question if we’ll ever be able to provide a safe space for women in our country. We are known to be a nation that treats its guests as ‘God’. However, such incidents taint the very roots we were so proud of.
