Everything has a price. Whether it’s an extra bag to carry your shopped items or containers to parcel leftover food, a minimal charge is expected. But what if the most ordinary things command a price tag that almost seems ridiculous? Recently, a man from Mumbai was shocked to receive a bill of ₹914 for just three glasses of mango juice served in plastic cups.

Mumbai Man Feels Scammed After Ordering Mango Juice At Thane Mall

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ravi Handa, host of the Desi FIRE podcast slammed an eatery in Thane, Mumbai, for giving him a hefty bill for just three glasses of mango juice. His post sparked a debate about the hidden costs we come across during purchases.

The bill dating back to November 2, showed that Handa bought three glasses of mango juice from Shahi Durbar at Viviana Mall in Thane. The eatery charged him ₹120 for three plastic glasses(₹40 each) and ₹750 for three glasses of mango juice (₹250 each). The bill totalled to ₹914 after taxes.

Netizens Find The Price For Plastic Cups To Be Ridiculous

Perplexed, the X user asked who charges ₹40 for disposable plastic glasses to drink the mango juice in. While Handa admits to knowing that Mumbai is an expensive city, he finds the bill ridiculous. Netizens were equally taken aback by his predicament. His post garnered 93.1k views and 261 comments. A Netizen joked about wanting to open his own restaurant in Mumbai after reading the post. Another person asked that if customers refuse plastic glasses, would the mango juice be served from a tap?

An X user even commented that perhaps people need to carry their bottles from home. A few people even called it a scam. Some even told Handa to be thankful that he wasn’t charged for the straw. Forget the glass, many were shocked to know that each mango juice cost a whopping ₹250.
