Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has been at the forefront, exporting mangoes to the rest of the world. The airport recently added another feather to its cap when its mango exports witnessed a surge of a whopping 124% in 2023. Let’s give you more delicious deets on the same.

As the mango season for 2023 came to an end, Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru recorded a note-worthy surge in mango exports. In fact, it set a new benchmark this year as compared to the previous year. With 124% growth in mango exports during the mango season this year as compared to last year, it’s impressive no doubt. This proves an upward tick for mango demand across the world.

In the year 2023, Bengaluru Airport processed an export of a whopping 6,84,648 kg of mangoes. This shows a massive increase from the previous number of 3,05,521 kg, which were exported in the year 2022. Also, this season’s exports witnessed an impressive 86% increase in the number of mango pieces. Around 17 lakh pieces of mangoes were exported this mango season.

USA One Of The Top Importers Of The Fruit

Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has an export network of 60 international destinations. This year, the United States of America imported an increase in mangoes from Bengaluru. Metropolitan regions in the USA like San Francisco, Dallas Fort Worth and Washington D.C. played a major role in fostering the growth of mango exports.

Chief Strategy and Development Officer of Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), Satyaki Raghunath, stated that Bengaluru Airport has emerged as a driving force for perishable exports from India. He further added that Bengaluru Airport has enhanced the global reach of South India’s mangoes. Its significance as a premier gateway connects the rich produce of the region to the rest of the world.
